ON EDIT: They're having a little send-off ceremony March 3rd, if you're in the Toledo area:

On Friday March 3rd, everyone is invited to come celebrate The University of Toledo Alternative Spring Break (ASB) 2006 send-off. ASB 2006 will include a week full of hard work and altruism for 100+ volunteers from The University of Toledo (including students, faculty, and staff), as well as some members of the community. These individuals will be traveling in vans to the Gulf Coast to help with disaster relief. There are five teams with roughly 20 people per team. Each team will go to one disaster relief site. The site locations are Bayou La Batre, AL; Lake Charles, LA; Metairie (New Orleans), LA; Bay St. Louis, MS; and Orange, TX. The teams will return on Saturday, March 11th. For more information, visit www.servicelearning.utoledo.edu.

We would be delighted if you would attend this event and support the participants who are dedicating their spring break to service and learning. Please join us on Friday, March 3, 2006 at 6pm in the Student Union Ingman Room. The Office of Service-Learning and Community Engagement and Toledo Campus Ministry Fellowship will be hosting the Alternative Spring Break 2006 Send-Off.

1. That is a wonderful idea.
If they get several universities to ask their students volunteer for something like this, the area would get some much needed cleanup. I have seen the pictures of the affected areas after the hurricanes and it's so sad.

6. Wow! You should post that in a separate thread, in GD.
Is it just me, or is Edwards looking more and more Kennedyesque?
