5. she is so out of touch with her democratic base it is hopeless
I suspect she has corporate interests that entice her more. She is DLC aka: The Corporate Democratic Wing.

6. I can't really remember
but didn't she win over a woman who was favored(can't remember her name) and that had been in office a long time? Seems to me like she was the Bush favorite to win. Plus I saw a story about Bush and her Dad being such good friends. Mary is no Dem, shes a dyed in the wool Repuke.

8. I agree
her association with the DLC and her repuke leaning votes make her useless to Democrats.

Landrieu has been elected to the US Senate twice. The first time over a slime Republican Woody Jenkins and the second time over an even worse Republican Suzzie Terrell. As bad as it is that Landrieu comes back home and runs ads with John Breaux telling everybody that she did a wonderful job compromising on Bush's tax cuts, the people that she runs against are so horrible that she looks like a saint in comparison. As a Louisiana resident, the thought of Senator Suzzie Terrell sends me running to my polling place to re-elect Landrieu. It's unfortunate, but it's the way things are.

14. I see no hope for her winning in the future...
what democratic base she had to put her numbers over the top, have left the state. That, or she'll move so far to the right the D in front will morph.

16. The D itself won't morph
Her family are huge in the state party, always have always will be. Chances are she will be veering more to the right, though.

Hopefully incumbency and lack of a decent challenger will be her saving grace.

17. I have to disagree
I don't much care for Suzanne Terrell but Woody Jenkins is sooooo bad that anyone other than David Duke looks good by comparison.

7. No, then they flip 2 other Republicans, that's all
They've been playing this game on the "enlightened" grassroots for years. Sheesh.

10. Quite contrary Mary (DINO-LA)
....the loathing and contempt I feel for her becomes more intense as every time a vote comes up she's sellin' us out.

11. Akaka has some weird agreement with Ted Stevens. The
non-continental states voting together on issues relating to their states.

Landrieu being from an oil producing state has always voted this way on exploration. Always. She just does so this is nothing new and not a surprise.
