Tulsa Elects Democratic Mayor
There will be an official report from one of the local stations soon but it looks like Tulsa has elected Democrat Kathy Taylor over Republican Bill LaFortune. The last time I checked, with 96% of precincts reporting, she was leading with a 2,893 vote advantage.

Tulsa is filled with many Republicans so maybe the tide is turning.

I hear he's favored for re-election.

11. Henry is doing very well
I have heard the Oklahoma Republican Party is trying to convince Istook to quit the race because right now, polls show a landslide victory for Brad Henry. Istook just has too much baggage.

16. He's there ...

I'm personally not incredibly impressed with him, but he's better than the alternative by a long shot. He also has a soul, which is a bonus, and has somehow managed not to commit a crime while in office.

He is favored, but at this point, that doesn't really mean much. A lot will depend on how the Republican primary works itself out. Istook can be beaten I think, but if the Republicans get smart and don't back him, it may be a tossup. One thing I have learned well is that you don't even think about the polls in OK at this point, and you don't pay much attention to them at all. They mean absolutely nothing. Tom Coburn was down by a percentage outside the margin of error the day before the election in '04. Guess who is Senator now.

5. She won in a Republican town because
she ran a smart campaign. She had the money to do it, but I've never seen a more diligent, hard working, WELL-ORGANIZED campaign in all my 57 years and that includes national races.

12. Plus...
She got some votes from the moderate Republicans who are upset with LaFortune.

8. This is BIG!!!
Tulsa is very red. For a Democrat to get 51% is for difficult. She must have run a FLAWLESS campaign.

13. There's even more to this news
Republican Senator Jim Inhofe and Representative John Sullivan were all over the Tulsa media telling Republicans to get out and vote for LaFortune. They basically said a Democratic Mayor win in Tulsa could set things in motion that would allow a much stronger Democratic presence in Oklahoma!
