No TV and No Polls.......I'm okay.....Why are all of you still doing this? |
|
I went away for weekend and didn't turn any of it on when I came back. I go "off and on" with TV anyway and never listen to polls even when DU'ers post.....I just scroll by.
I think that "Polls" are driving the current election. They learned how to "RUN" us from Gore vs. Bush and they have refined it to such an extent that the "POLLS" now drive the vote.
If I was in Iowa or NH and thought Kerry was ahead according to the "night before" poll in the Media.....I would vote Kerry because Sports Obsessed Americans don't want to vote for the LOSER!
Well.....I wouldn't really vote that way, because as a DU'ers I'm NOT AN ORDINARY AMERICAN VOTER.....but, you get my point? NO? You don't get that YOU are MANIPULATED by POLLS & SPIN by the MEDIA?
:D don't tell me you actually think either are working for "Fair and Balanced" at this point...do you???

"In polls we trust" should not be the motto of our country's politicians.

Have they programmed the same response into both of us?

I don't believe in the "sheeple" concept, and I'll be damned if I'll own up to being one!

that most Democratic Party members were just sheep and voted in the primaries based on simply who was ahead in the polls – why would they bother voting? – seeing as how the one they were voting for was ahead anyway.

Maybe it's simpler.
Maybe most Democrats showing up at the polls and caucuses really don't give a %$#& about all this detail that gets people around here all righteous about one candidate or the other.
Maybe they do their own assessment of the candidates, independent of the buzzwords and pious dogmas of various kinds touted around here, and just vote according to the one that seems to them most admirable and capable of knocking off Bush. Polls mattering only to the extent that they confirm suspicions of who really is beyond hope.
In General Elections, massive advertising is thought to change opinions on who to support by a mere 1%-3%. Mostly it works to get people leaning to one side or the other more strongly or overtly committed. So "manipulation" is not, in general, a charge that accounts for how elections turn out.
