So how are the freepers taking it?

I'd go look myself, but I always feel so slimy after visiting that web site. Can some DUer with a strong stomach excerpt what they have to say about Tom DeLay these days? Are they all "rule of law" or what?

2. Well first there was shock, with headlines posted in all caps
Then disbelief. Could AP be trusted? You know they are a tool of the liberal media!

And finally, resignation, and tributes to a fallen hero.

But there was one poster who called him "a nasty piece of work."

3. Calling someone a "nasty piece of work"....
...is sometimes a compliment. As the days go by FeeRepublic (spelling deliberate) will become more and more marginalized.

5. The chasm grows
Between the truly delusional and those who have some awareness.

4. They are basically ignoring it. A few posts, yes, but not like evolution.
They can't seem to deal with it, intellectually, so they ignore it. For most, it is not of interest to them. Actually it's pretty fascinating to see how little has been posted. Perhaps no surprise. My guess is that most, even just using their tiny FReeper brains, are afraid of posting too much; they don't really trust him, either, and are waiting for the other shoe to drop.

6. The initial reaction was pretty explosive
More than 600 posts, until they figured out it was for real.

7. Some Frei Republik pearls of wisdom
Of course, they're much more concerned with McKinney than DeLay.

Keep the Pepto handy if you intend to read further:

I think the Democrats are going to be rue the day that they handed him this golden megaphone.

He looks and sounds more relaxed than I've seen any politicians in years.

Of course, he's a better person than I am: I'd be looking to even some scores.

DeLay evened a few scores this afternoon. He's going to have a good couple of days....till it all sinks in and he's no longer invited on all the shows.

I will pray for the man, he's a true patriot.

God bless Tom Delay and his family for your years of service. And Joe Scabborough has to have Al Franken commenting .... disgusting.

He will spend the rest of his career working with Republicans in an advisory capacity.

The Left will never be completely rid of him. His new role will be "Rovian."

we simply never learn how to handle spin and PR. this story should have been released on Easter Sunday, when no one is listening to the news.

Was never a huge Delay fan, but the DUmmies must be so very proud that their "democratic" tactics worked. Their wails about the courts and not listening to The People grow faint to the point of inaudibility when one of their goons can slap together a makeshift "case" that falls apart right from the beginning, but creates enough of a furor that a man pulls out of the race.

Only a couple hundred more Republicans to take out this way, DUmmies, get to it. Who cares about crafting positions on the issues and winning the battle of ideas? Just pick 'em off with nuisance suits.

I hope all those "Republicans" on this site who are crowing about not voting Republican in November are paying close attention--the Dems are YOUR guys now. Happy?

This is a joke - no way does Tom Delay call Chris Matthews...check your facts before printing this stuff!

8. Oh, man
Not as insipid as I thought. Worse.

Note how some of these clowns don't care in the slightest about rule of law or what's good for the country or anything. It's like they are cheering for their favorite football team and no more than that.

I think we could just ask them directly.
