What the hell is going on on the Senate floor
Edited on Wed Apr-05-06 02:41 PM by Sugarcoated
I know the Frist is pulling something - I'm sure he's mis characterizing the Dems here on immigration, I just don't understand. And now Harry Reid is doing what? What the hell is he talking about?? If anyone is following this closely please give a synopsis cause as bad as Frist always looks with his drama queen shit, Reid is just as bad in his own way, telling some slow moving abstract story. It makes me want to scream!

1. The Democrats are blocking right-wing amendments to the Specter substitute
They filed for cloture on the substitute. If cloture is agreed to, these amendments will fall because they are non-germane.

Reid is basically doing what Frist has done for ages. Frist has no right to whine.

2. Things are not always what they seem...
I'm not watching, but it kinda sounds like Frist tried to pull something unexpected, and Reid is rambling to buy time till he gathers his forces...just a guess

7. In general there is a delay tactic going on

I HOPE the Dems take advantage and drag out GOP divisions and slow down this bill till after the elections. The last immigration bill, never enforced against employers, took years so what is the rush since nothing is going to come of national security enhancement with the system bogged down and hogtied trying to deal with millions of immigrants.

It seems safe to say they are going to dangle in the breeze until November for having put their foot in their arrogant mouths one too many times. There are two reasons also in that blocking the amendments keeps out the poison pills and loopholes the GOP wants as well as keeping the Democratic position united and pristine.

Frist is a terrible, terrible legislator and Senate leader who only succeeds if the Democrats allow him to. In similar majority situations the democrats have appointed great leaders who passed huge swaths of good legislation. The criminal GOP majority, supposedly lacking qualms and fearless about spin and fraud, is incompetent and stewing in its own vat of poisons.

The price paid by the WH in ignoring the power of the Congress- which it largely controls!- is not having its agenda legislated at all and having to otherwise operate outside the law even with the blank checks they did manage to pass. Bush has sqandered the Capitol where a little bi-partisanship and show would have reaped immense power and probably popular standing and clout. Instead he chose to be a dictator and his party is reduced to pathetic puppets. Incompetent Frist is a direct result of WH management.

12. The Dems Are Revealing They Have Push Back Power Despite
their Minority Status. - This is the kind of action they should have been doing for years, but most particularly this past year..

Their real power (they chose not to utilize)was actually revealed with the Elite-O filibuster fiasco, when in the end we learned the Repukes never had the 60 votes in favor of Alito's appointment in the first place.

At least they're using it for this... i guess.

4. Know what would be cool?
One of those massive fights like they have in the parliament in South Korea.

I just saw Rick Santorum (R-:puke:) a little while ago, and he scared me. He nasty.

Fun to fatasize. I think Reid could take Frist easily. And I bet Kerry would do some damage.

6. I picture Dick Durbin as a fireplug.
I'd like to see him rip the condescension off John Cornyn's face. :)

8. It would be hard to know which Repug to go after first
But Cornyn "the judge killer", if he was in line of sight would make me see red. I'd be actively looking for Sessions and Santorum. You'd have to pull me off of one of them. Oh, and Hatch. Such a dishonest bunch.

10. I was listening to a podcast of Stephanie Miller, as she played
drops from Katherine Harris, Tom DeLay, and DimSon stammering his way through something, and I thought - - almost right out loud - - that party is just a collection of Ass Clowns.

I mean, who can take them seriously?

All you have to do is play back their very own words - - or whatever approximates words in bush's head - - in their very own voices, and it's like a freaking Saturday Night Live parody.

And to think these Ass Hats are making our laws and confirming Federal Judges.

If it weren't so tragic, it would be hilarious.

11. Cornyn does need a new face change along with his patronizingly
superior behavior and attitude.
