Did anyone hear the OUTRAGEOUS Soledad/McKinney interview this morning?
Edited on Wed Apr-05-06 04:24 PM by Karenca
It was horrible, despicable, condescending and obviously partisan...It was the worst interview I have ever seen on CNN. (I'M NOT A CNN FAN, BUT THIS WAS UNBELIEVABLE)

Blitzer mentioned on his show 20 minutes ago that he was going to air it.
He didn't.

Did anyone else hear this interview? ... I never write to CNN, BUT I HAD TO! after watching Soledad this morning.

1. She's crashing and burning
First her inane exchange with Feingold and now this. Maybe she was up for the "Today" job (she used to be the weekend host before jumping to CNN) and she didn't get it and now she's just coming undone.

3. Yes, it was disgraceful.
Soledad was utterly disrespectful, and was trying to play like she was taking a super-aggressive stance in the interest of "getting at the truth", when she gives a pass to anything and everything the Bush administration perpetrates, regardless of how serious it may be. I found Soledad's behavior to be uncalled for and way over the top, as well as hypocritical.

claiming it was her cable show and McKinney wasn't answering her questions, the despicable little twirp was her arrogant self.

she ripped into Jimmy Carter a few mnths ago for criticizing bush in his book.

so blitzer wants to reair that!...if they were normal people they would be ashamed at her disgraceful behavior.

9. What others are saying here about Soledad O'Brien rings true to me
even though I did not see the McKinney interview.

In the past I have heard Soledad O'Brien try to trash President Carter (and enjoyed Carter bringing her up short on a few key points). Generally, she does not strike me as a serious journalist but as a snarky celeb who's super-caffeined-up early in the morning on cable tv.

Karenca, I wrote a letter to CNN complaining about her treatment of President Carter, and I hail you for writing one this time.

31. You mean the despicable exhibition from Sosobad - the right-wing stooge?
Yeah,I happened on that spectacle this morning. Like you I HAD to write to CNN the following:

Last month, American Morning, resembled a REAL news show while Zane Verjee was sitting in for Soledad O'Brien for a week. Channel surfing this morning I happened by Ms O'Brien proving to the world that she is a right-wing stooge... showing contempt for a United States Congressperson befitting a arrogant child. I wish to thank her for reminding me why I DO NOT Watch CNN anymore. I am really happy CNN's rating are going down the toilet where they belong!

I heard it, and I thought what in the hell is going on? I went out and caught most of it. It was one of the most unprofessional *interviews* I have ever watched. Soledad came across as a prosecutor and not a journalist. That's the last morning I intend to watch CNN. I'll find another morning program to click on in the am.

51. GOPervision set new lows in their standards?
"Soledad came across as a prosecutor and not a journalist."

If you watch these shows waiting for a neutral, detached stance it becomes very apparent how biased they are. They take the GOP talking points as the everyone-knows-its-so default and attack every challenge to it. If they can muster nothing more they talk over with "but, but... isn't GOP talking point so and so true?"

I hardly watch them anymore, but I'm sorry I missed this one. I like to keep up with new standards in selling America out.

38. Okay, prepare your slings and arrows...Sosobad DIDN'T suck. McKinney did.
Jeez, did we all see the same interview? I cannot stand O'Brian, but while she was snotty in places, I think she was just trying to get control of her interview. McKinney simply stonewalled. She answered with non-answers. I agree with Sosobad -- why wouldn't McKinney simply tell 'em what happened? She'd defer to her lawyer who said "We don't know what happened." WTF? She was THERE! Why didn't she know what happened?

Look, I firmly believe that McKinney is suffering from Republican-led blowback for crossing the president and speaking out/voting against his pet war. From everything I've heard, she didn't do much to the DC cop to warrant all the attention. But she didn't do herself any favors with that interview, imho. Why couldn't she just give her version of the altercation? Why did she resort to such ridiculous lines as "We don't know yet"? Why did she keep talking over her host while she was being asked questions?

One final bit of fairness to Sosobad -- even while she did appear to be rough on McKinney, she at least pretended to be a bit tougher on the cop in the second part of the segment. He flat-out asked him why he thought a black woman appeared not to belong there. I thought it was a good zinger.

It wasn't the finest hour for Sosobad, but it was far from her WORST. McKinney, otoh...she simply didn't act professional or dignified.
