Democrats within 2 SEATS of TAKING THE HOUSE!
We are almost there, 2 more seats! Check out this map at Election Predictions to see where we are gaining so far. http://electionpredictions.blogspot.com/2006/01/house-projections-map.html

1. Nice spin. Equally valid statement: "GOP projected to retain House"
By the way, the posting date for your link was waaay back in January. Things have changed a little bit since then--for the better. Like the pollingreport.com review of Congressional job approval rating (currently runs 67% disapprove to 30% approve) or the ballot trend that currently in March show Democrats favored by voters by a 10-15% margin over Republicans.

11. Nonetheless, it's projected that Republicans will retain control of House
You're subject line is misleading and the projection is, I hope, wrong.

I think that's what the OP was getting at.

40. Its likely
that Weldon loses in my opinion. That's a Dem leaning district, we have a great candidate, and Weldon keeps making mistakes.

29. is this the projected outcome?
Senate(D): 48
Senate (R): 51
Senate (I): 1
House (D): 213
House (R): 222
Governors (D): 27
Governors (R): 23

That's certainly a ways, but it looks more like within five seats of gaining house, not 2...

8. Add another one
Dems are taking NY20

Sweeney vs Gillebrand

It is very competitive and Gillebrand is raising the money. Sweeney is involved with DeLay and Abramoff and was a leader in FL in the election debacle. Lots of scandals with him. Gillebrand was on Feingolds Pregressive Patriots list, she didn't win it but she at least made the list. The district is red but mostly fiscally conservative red and that Sweeney certainly isn't.

12. sorry.. i can't read that map.. and i don't see projections
next to the map say anything about gaining or losing.. and gosh... we're only 6 months from elections - how in the hell can anyone say we're gaining or losing anything? based on projections that we've learned not to trust, like in 2004?

14. the projections are updated
constantly. look on the sidebar to see the projections, and it is a really simple map. states shaded light blue mean the dems pick up one seat, darker blue 2 seats. and the same with red for republiucans

19. Actually, KY has traditionally been Democratic
Edited on Sun Apr-09-06 12:12 PM by Raiden
It has only been recently that Republicans have been making gains here with "value voters" which started when Mitch McConnell started mud-slinging, and former Democratic governor Paul Patton had a sex scandal.

Plus, our Republican governor, Ernie Fletcher is a pompous asshole and everyone is starting to realize it. He's really dragging the Republicans down around here.

23. I live in CT's 2nd District
and, sadly, I have to disagree and say that Rob Simmons (R) is pretty likely to retain his seat, despite the strongly anti-Bush feelings 'round here.

People credit Simmons with saving the sub base. That probably makes him invincible.

Hope I'm wrong.

35. I think Shays may have quite a time this go round
Diane Farrell came pretty damn close last time, and the Bush association is going to hurt even more in 2006.

I think, unfortunately, it will be tough for Chris Murphy (who I really like) to beat Nancy Johnson. She's got lots of cash, from what I read. And seems a "moderate" which is a big compliment in CT talk.

The really unfortunately thing is that of the 3, I'd rather keep Shays than the other two.

37. he's been raising funds for Iraq veterans running for congress
Senator John F. Kerry today plans to send out a fund-raising appeal on behalf of several Iraq war veterans running for Congress, citing the political attacks his war record received in his presidential run in urging his supporters to help the candidates. ''You and I both know how Rove-style Republicans treat veterans who speak the truth," the Massachusetts Democrat plans to write in an e-mail to his supporters. The e-mail, a copy of which was provided to the Globe, asks for donations for Tammy Duckworth, who lost her legs in a helicopter accident in Iraq and is running in the March 21 Democratic primary for the House seat being vacated by Representative Henry Hyde, Republican of Illinois; Patrick Murphy, who is seeking to take on Representative Michael G. Fitzpatrick, Republican of Pennsylvania; and Joe Sestak, who is trying to oust another Pennsylvania Republican, Representative Curt Weldon.

tammy won the Dem. primary.

36. We can pick up one here:
In New York State:

"House District 29: House District 29 will be the am interesting race in 2006. Kuhl only won with 50.6% of the vote in 2004. Furthermore, Massa is a retired veteran and is more moderate. However, due to fundraising so far, Kuhl has the lead. This is a VERY WEAK RETENTION for the Republicans."
http://electionpredictions.blogspot.com/2005/12/new-york-empire-state.html

Eric Massa is a great candidate, and he stays very tuned into activists as a frequent blogger. Massa is also one of the kos "Netroots" endorsed candidates. We can make a difference in this race.

Here is Eric's web site:
