FAHRENHEIT 911 REVISITED
Edited on Sun Apr-09-06 12:21 AM by Jeffersons Ghost
Picture viewers of a sold out theater in Denver all rising to their feet for a rousing standing ovation after a documentary. Fahrenheit 911 packs that kind of punch.

Tonight, after viewing a re-run of the flick, I remembered the feeling in that Denver theater.

To say that history is a personal hobby is an understatement. It's a passion. The puppet dictator stakes his place in history on Iraq, according to numerous political analysts.

While certainly not a true historian, my respect for individuals that spend long hours pondering quaint and curious volumes of forgotten lore is without limit.

Micheal Moore offers a volume of history that will never drift into obscurity. The lies of a tyrant may silence criticism for a time but historians dig deep and never forget. Perhaps in final minutes God forgave Hitler, Stalin and Caesar but history never will.

Perhaps as Nazis fled to Brazil they felt their victims would never attain justice. Justice, however, always takes her toll. Her sword might not swing as swiftly as a victim wants but when it falls the blade digs deep.

There are nearly a billion and a half Muslims in the world and many keep ALL the Commandments as they pray to the God of Abraham for justice. Many of these prayers fly on dark wings toward your house and family and beg for you to taste the Hell they live through every day. It is their idea of justice. These people weren't terrorists before but minds change when innocent civilians are cut down in front of their children.

The children of the dead will continue to pray for justice but some will not be so particular about keeping Commandments. Great grand-children of good people who followed God's law will never forget or forgive. Did I hear a fool say "Bring it on?"

Brutal Nazis like Dr. Josef Mengele, the Angel of Death of Auschwitz, thought they were safe but are war criminals ever really safe?

After the ravens leave the battlefields bare bones will still cry out for justice and it will come. Maybe it will only take form as recurring dark nightmares wrought on a cowardly killer but she will visit. When will the haunting end? Quoth the raven, "Nevermore."

4. some things are ageless. tonight was my second viewing
I'd never been to a movie that got a standing ovation. We just kept clapping and no one left. I thought it might break out into a spontanious protest but everyone finally decided to leave the theater. It had been showing for about a week and still got a strong reaction. I think Colorado will swing democratic if DIEBOLD isn't a real factor.

7. If they steal our votes the tyrants better hide
In history, people the world over have taken up rakes and hoes to smack down the swords of tyranny. It is usually costly but what is freedom worth? What legacy will we leave our children if we allow injustice and tyranny to win?

Then, Bush signed HAVA - Help America Vote Act.

That put Republican machines in all over the country.

But, wait! That isn't all!

The same act required a state wide database of voters -- the better to disqualify you, my dear.

We are in the most serious kind of trouble, right now.

And, here in California we ask for any help that we can get with this insidious disenfranchisement.

The petition demanded that voting machines must create a peper trail to facilitate recounts. They send me an email petition about once a week. Here's how to get on their mailing list. The guy who started Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream got TrueMajority off the ground. Here's a link: http://www.truemajorityaction.org/

9. Your letter gave me the shivers
I've seen Fahrenheit 911 about 5 times, hence I'm discovering little things that I'd missed previously. A theater owner in a nearby town refused to show it; and it was just before our federal election. It would have shown up the sniveler of a Prime Minister that we have, and the type of people he chooses to brown-nose with. Anyway, I rang local talk-back radio and advised listeners who couldn't see the documentary to buy "Dude, Wheres my Country" which almost covered what was in 911. The theater owner obviously is an extreme right winger. He even refused to show "Good night and good luck"., which reminded me of your Patriot Act.

Like Reagan never uttered the word "Aids". I wonder if Bush will ever utter the words "Civil war"

No, I haven't read anything of his, but I fully intend to. To get back on to the original subject.- I firmly believe that too many people are gullible and not enough are cynical. Whenever my government announce a new policy, my first thoughts are whats in it for them or their right wing constituents.

It was on the news this morning that its "on the table" that the US intend bombing Iran, using nuclear war heads and bunker busters. It may be saber-rattling, but it sure has me rattled. Something has to be done about your administration.

It was on the news over the weekend that Palestine has no money in their treasury. They have a democratically elected government but America refuses to continue with financial support. Israel also has blocked their income supply. If they are left with no money, hence, no food; that makes for a very unhappy country. Why is it that Bush wants all Moslem countries to hate western society?

It is said that 911 was an unprovoked attack. I beg to differ. I believe it was provoked over a long period of time. I find it ironic that the name of the buildings was "World Trade Centre"., and I think world trade had and has a lot to do with it. Eventually your administration will unravel, but it may be too late when that happens.

I think the main reason that more people aren't protesting against the war in Iraq is because you don't have the draft at the moment. With your troops being spread very thin on the ground and other countries backing away from Bush like he has the plague, maybe they will reintroduce the draft for Iran because they are running out of soldiers.

Please don't think I'm being biased towards your government alone, I'm not. I detest my government just as much. Sorry this note has been so long winded.

33. we'll HAVE THAT DRAFT SOON AND THEN THESE FOOLS CAN GO GET UM
That will get rid a species that isn't endangered: Chicken-Hawks. I don't know if that species lives in Astrailia but we have plenty in the U.S. if you need some. I revised an old 'Nam era song just for them. That's what i miss this time aound; the protest songs. I wish Ray-gun hadn't gotten away with allowing the zillion-aires to own ALL our radio stations. Anyhow, here's another re-run to go with F-911 but I've updated this one:

Yeah, come on all of you, big strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
He's got himself in a terrible jam
Way out yonder in Iran
So put down your books and pick up a gun,
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Reminds me of Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Well, come on generals, let's move fast;
Your big chance has come at last.
Gotta go get those towel-heads —
The only good Muslim is one who's dead
And you know that peace can only be won
When we've blown 'um all to kingdom come.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is in Iran;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Huh!

Well, come on Wall Street, don't move slow,
Why man, this is war au-go-go.
There's plenty good money to be made
By supplying the Army with the tools of the trade,
Just hope and pray if they drop some nukes,
They don’t drop it on our own troops.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Reminds me of Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Well, come on mothers, now don’t be sad
Pack your boys off to Baghdad.
Come on fathers, don't hesitate,
Send 'em off before it's too late.
Be the first one on your block
To have your boy come home in a box.
And it's one, two, three
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is in Iran.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

35. I remember the original song
back in the sixties. It does sound so relevant to today. Am I so naive as to wonder why we didn't try to make friends with Iraq instead of going to war. It would have saved a hell of a lot of money, and more importantly, it would have saved a hell of a lot of lives and heartache. Some people don't learn by their mistakes.

21. Ghost, my daughter-in-law.......
....voted (gasp!) for the Village Idiot the year before she met and married my son. Her family was always Repug, and she thought she knew what she was doing. Anyway, second time around she voted Kerry, but just about 6 months ago, my son, the preacher, bought a copy of Farenheit 911, and she saw it the first time....she called me telling me how ANGRY it made her seeing what "these people have been doing!". She also talked about how, not only had she wished she had never voted for him, BUT that she doesn't understand why her parents, lower middle income folks..both with illnesses...would EVER vote for him or ANY OTHER REPUBLICAN!!

She makes me proud to be a daddy-in-law!!!

22. My very own MOTHER votes GOP
Imagine my shame... Last week she finally said she was about "sick of Bushes nonsense" and I was able to point out that he has no power to do ANYTHING without Republicans in the House and Senate backing his every move. Congratulations on the conversion.

Mom finally decided she was wrong about Vietnam a few years ago. I called her a "Fascist Pig" when I was 13. I had just finished reading the Communist Manifesto by Marx. My parents noticed at a very young age that I was turning out a bit different than local garden variety racist kids other parents in Alabama were so proud to raise. It's not that I believe in Communism as such but I DO believe in poor and downtrodden people rising up in a revolution to strike down their oppressors.

I think I can hear a distant drum again today. I never was much good at goose-marching but I think I know steps to the dance that far-away cadence is playing... It's an old Beatles song... "Shhh, it sounds like "There's gonna be a Revolution, oh yea we know..."

23. I was raised in an entire family, both sides, of Democrats...
....luckily. My sainted Dad was a WWII vet with a purple heart and a bronze star from the European Theatre of Operations. And we had disagreements about Vietnam....but looking back I think his "argument" was much as some of them are today. He chose, as do I, to support the troops. He believed, after what HE had gone thru, that you couldn't support the troops and not support the war. He later realized what was actually happening, but for the same reasons, couldn't be "anti-war".

My position has always been, that after 9/11...I am ALL for a War on Terrorism (although whether it should be a military one is still a question). BUT, I am TOTALLY AGAINST the Bush Invasion, Occupation, and Genocide of Iraq!! As we both know, one had nothing to do with the other.

And if you mean by "revolution" that the oppressed in this nation, which last poll I saw was 67% of us, are ready to do SOMETHING, even if it is just at the polls....I believe, my friend that the Beatles "Revolution" & John Lennon's "Give Peace A Chance" are BOTH on the horizon!!!

24. Did you happen to see "All the President's Men" last night?
I had not seen it in 30 years. Boy it was like a picnic in the park compared to the corruption of this administration.

After seeing the corruption in the Nixon administration, I came away believing that the elections in 2000 and 20004 really were stolen. I have no doubt now that Ohio and Florida were fixed!

What I took away from this movie is that Bushco is just as corrupt as we all think, they just know how to cover the asses better than Nixon.

I still believe that one day all of it will come out. Nixon had "deep throat" and I have no doubt we will soon have many whistleblowers. Hopefully it will happen during Bush's reign of terror!!

34. Seeing it after 30 years through different eyes,
I was struck by the fear of people involved and the quickness of the cover-up from the government. Also, the threats on the lives of Woodward and Bernstein.

It was a much more innocent time...like Watergate I believe the truth will eventually come out re Bushco's corrupt administration. Afterall, it has already started.

BTW, did you see V-Vendetta? Fantastic movie, "Phantom of the Opera meets Zorro" and political overtones abound, I strongly recommend it, you will love it!

BTW, Elad, reviewed it in the entertainment forum very positively!

36. Have not seen it, but intend to. Everything .........
.....that I have heard is just as you say! And yes, 30 years ago, my eyes were so much more innocent, as the times were. I remember watching the Senate Watergate Committee, with ole Sam Ervin chairing it, and Howard Baker co-chairing. I remember thinking how brave and honest THOSE Republicans were, because they were putting their country before their party's president.

It was Baker who asked, "What did the president know, and when did he know it?".

I also learned to admire the Republican Minority Counsel for the committee, one Fred Thompson. Straight forward, direct, and honestly searching for the truth where ever it went. He earned my respect, something that he has never lost, whether it was senator from Tennessee, or playing the D.A. on my all-time favorite TV show, "Law & Order", which is the role I honestly believe he was born to play.

Republicans stopped being "Republicans" since 1994 and Gingrich's Contact ON America. They not only became pure "conservatives" but EXTREME RIGHT-WING NAZI-TYPE NEO-CONSERVATIVES. The Republican Party of Goldwater, Eisenhower, even Nixon and Reagan, is gone and probably for good. They are totally partisan, hateful, totalitarian and just racist and class warfare warriors.
