2. as the worm turns. THANKS FOR THE GREAT NEWS!
One down. Now, for a downing street upper, then a 2006 take over of congress, perhaps the senate, and then, we can get to work. We will have a lot to do.

7. The bad thing about Tony is that the conservatives are even crazier
Unless his party deposes him or the Libs somehow take over, Tony may stay in charge.

25. Is the tide turning?
Its great to see that you added Howard to your list, even though on the world stage he is reasonably ineffectual. Apparently Blair isn't running for Prime Minister in their next election, maybe the alternative Labour leader may not be so insecure as to follow Bush. Anyway, I'll do my utmost to get rid of Howard in 2007.

10. Wonderful
Berlusconi's been a proto-fascist crook, corrupting his government and defying his people even as he employs his own stranglehold on the media to deflect attention from his crimes. For once, it seems, the people wised up to him, and he paid a serious price in large part for his corrupt participation in the Iraq War. Italy's troops will soon be withdrawn from the desert-- I wonder who Bushco thinks would be willing to pick up the slack.

21. Based on early reporting, the actual vote counts
show Prodi and his allies having a narrow lead over Berluscona and his allies. The night, figuratively speaking, is young.

19. I found it odd that Berlusconi was not at the Olympics in Turin Italy
I watched the opening & closing ceremonies and instead of Berlusconi representing host country Italy, they had the prime minsiter (well the other guy) which is someone who is more of a represenative of the country and not the decision maker. The Olympics was peppered with anti-war statements including Yoko Ono reading one of John Lennon's poems, Peter Gabrial singing Imagine and having anti-war supporters like Susan Saradon and Isabelle Allende be part of the group of women who carried in the Olympic Flag.

The claim about Berlusconi absense was because he was busy campaining for the upcoming Olympics. I'm guessing that the people running the Olympics asked that this war-mongerer not show up where he would have probably been boo'd (he's not very popular in Italy)
