The following letter was received from Ted Ankrum by supporters.

I was called the winner by the AP an hour after the polls closed in Texas, but I waited to get the final results. With all precincts reported, except for one in Harris County (where I have been runnung at 86%), I have won the primary runoff with 71% of the vote. I am now the Democratic Party Nominee for Texas Congressional District 10. This is LBJ's original District, before he was elected to the Senate, and words cannot describe how I feel at this time. If someone had said to me even eighteen months ago that I would be doing this, I would have laughed (I started a year, ago). Now, on to the General Election Campaign where I am running against a Republican Incumbent multimillionaire, whose Father-in-Law owns Clear Channel Communications. Leave it to me to run against someone that owns 1200 radio stations and 12 TV stations.

I have responded to the Press Interviews about how we were able to do so well by saying that we are most of us new at this, and we have been learning. For the runoff, we used a postcard to everyone that voted in the primary to introduce them to me and give them some information about me. We followed that up with calls and letters from friends and neighbors urging a vote for me. This was a killer combination. We worked very hard at this, and the results showed it. My thanks to each and every one of the volunteers that have been helping in this effort. Now on to the "Big Fish".

I have an appointment at the VA hospital, tomorrow, that I have been waiting for a year for, so I will be tied up all morning. After that, #1 son is coming in from the East for a long-planned visit. He is a teacher and it is his spring break. So, family will occupy me until Easter. I'll steal some moments for thinking, but everyone take a break, along with me. McCaul will be there when we come back. Number one on the priority list for all of you is House parties/ Fundraisers. Put your thinking caps on. I don't just want to be a name on the ballot. That means raising money.

One tidbit of information from Duane Olney of Washington County (88% of the vote!):
He was going over the primary voters list to send letters to each of the voters and found a lot of names he didn't recognize. He went to the master voters list from TDP and looked them up. He found that 20% of the voters in the precinct he was looking at had either never voted in a primary, or were single R's. This made him suspicious of ringers from McCaul voting to give them the weakest candidate; so he looked at his own precinct and found the same thing. Only he knew some of the people and ruled out ringers. This leads all of us to believe that we are already seeing people's discontent with the current Government and Congress. We have NEW voters, and crossover voters. My task is to "not frighten the horses" and win these people and their friends over. WE CAN DO THIS! On to November.

Thank you all, each and everyone (said Tiny Tim).
