Massachusetts Governor Romney and Senator Kennedy both attended the signing into law of the State's new health insurance legislation.
"What’s remarkable to me is that such a disparate group of people could come together on a workable consensus," Romney said.
"My son said that having Senator Kennedy and me together like this on this stage, behind the same piece of landmark legislation, will help slow global warming. That's because hell has frozen over."
Sen. Kennedy, who spoke immediately following Romney, quipped back.
"You were talking about what your son said about us getting together," he said.
"My son said something too, and that is when Kennedy and Romney support a piece of legislation, usually one of them hasn't read it."

he used his "line item veto" to veto 8 separate points in this bill. But he'll stand up with the overwhelmingly democratic Mass. machine and try to look like he supports the bill he is unable to kill! His veto's will most likely be over-ridden by the state legislature. Romney is running for president, there's nothing to humiliating for him if it gets him votes. His complete failure as a Governor is obvious, His only other note worthy act was supporting deregulation of the states auto insurance industry. This would have been a total disaster for Mass. drivers. They tried to convince us rates would go down, That didn't work but as a result the board that sets rates lowered the rates roughly 5%, ( so in a parallel universe they got what they proffered.) I'll bet their market consultants never saw that coming. Too bad Mitt stick to doing what you do best (Screwing workers out of their pensions.)
EDIT OUCH too cynical? NAAAAH!

6. I am afraid his son is right - Teddy did probably not read the bill. |

Sorry to be negative because I love him, but the bill is a great, great disappointment.
Romney is a winner. He can claim that, under his term, MA had an healthcare bill, and he can claim that his bill puts the responsibility on the citizen and not on the state or the businesses.
This reminds me of no child left behind a little too much.
