Ann Coulter neglects to answer gender question on voter registration form

Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter neglected to answer Question #15 on her Palm Beach County, FL voter registration form, PageOneQ has learned. The question asks the registrant to indicate sex by checking 'M' or 'F' on the form. Bloggers and comment posts have speculated about Coulter's gender identity.

Arthur Anderson, Jr., The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, confirmed to PageOneQ that Question 15 had not been answered on the original form. Coulter's registration form was first posted by BradBlog.com, the blog of voting rights activist and journalist Brad Friedman. Friedman reported Tuesday that Coulter's registration form raised questions about her decision to register and vote at an address where she did not live. "I object," said a transgender activist who spoke with PageOneQ today, "To the state of Florida expecting its citizens to answer questions which are not relevant for voter registration." When asked about Coulter's voter registration form, the activist declined to speak specifically about Coulter. "Generally speaking, I hope there is a day when transgendered people can be open about who they are without fear of retribution from employers, colleagues and neighbors. With that in mind, I hope anyone with a high media profile would use that opportunity to be honest with the American people."

There are a million reasons to express loathing and ridicule for Ann Coulter, but I've never understood what the labeling of her as a transgendered person accomplishes. Aside from that being a backhanded insult to real transgendered people, I doubt if it's even true in Coulter's case. I've seen pictures of her from her youth and she seems XX enough.

I think Ann Coulter's strange appearance has more to do with anorexia, possible drug use, psychosis, and just plain evil than anything else.

There are those here who would alienate their friends and supporters by doggedly clinging to the right to ridicule Ann Coulter at the expense of transgendered people.

Perhaps if people would consider replacing the disparaging gender identity remarks with an ethnic or sexual orientation slur -- their civility might improve significantly.

Second, as much as I hate to say this (although it really is completely irrelevant), she had a natural beauty back then.

But I think humor is a vital part of a sophisticated life. If I know the intent of a joke is to poke fun of bad guys (or bad gals), I'm not quick to be offended, even if the subject matter does get close to home. Writer-actor Dennis Hurley, who is a friend of mine, was born with albinism (the non-PC term is "an albino").

He was weirded out when Dan Brown made the assassin in "The Da Vinci Code" an albino -- since one of the hallmarks of albinism is very poor eyesight. Not really good for shooting people from great distances.
