Poll question: The worst possible replacement for Rumsfeld |
|
When Rumsfeld resigns, I am confident that Bush will pick a replacement who is even worse. A Pentagon that is already dysfunctional will become FUBAR.
So who will Bush pick to finish off our military?

The only other two on the list who would be remotely serious choices are Lieberman and Wolfowitz. I'd prefer Lieberman over the other two. Wolfowitz at least has some brians, but he's not likely to be pulled from his post at the World Bank. Bolton is just a boor.

7. Oh, let's figure Rummy will be gone before Bush can be impeached |
|
So, yes, Bush gets to pick the replacement.
However, I suppose next year, after the impeachment and removal of Bush and Cheney, President Pelosi will choose her own Defense Secretary.

bush picked harriet, LOL
For a position of that power it will be cheney that picks the neocon. The pick will be in that circle of conspirators or underlings of that intelligentsia.
but I still think harriet would make a fine choice for bush that makes it relative to this poll.

10. I'm really afraid Bush might pick Bo Derek |
|
...'cuz if Bush does go for Bo, we can be ABSOLUTELY SURE, THERE GOES the women's vote, and ALL the Dems prospects in November! Heck, Bush's approval ratings and support for the Iraq war will probably shoot WAY, WAY up, too!
Unfortunately, there's a really good chance that he WILL pick Bo, since Bush's new chief of staff used to date her, and they're still good friends.
Boy, I sure hope Bush DOESN'T pick Bo Derek, 'cause we Dems are DOOMED if he does! We might as well GIVE UP on '06 and focus on '08, IF we can find a Dem candidate who's centrist and pro-war enough to be acceptable to the American electorate!
But then, what if Bo runs for president HERSELF? We just don't have anyone who can POSSIBLY beat her, period. Especially if she chooses McCain as her running mate!
I hate to bring up these depressing matters, but we Dems may as well face the bleak prospects before us.

14. Let Bill O'Reilly take the job. We'll see how long it takes for ol' Bill |
|
to change his mind on the actual, real-world occupation of Iraq.
Lasy the responsibility for the conduct of the military at his feet as its civilian executive and we'll see how long it takes him to reach the same conclusion William F. Buckley reached on Iraq.
___
Lieberman remains a possible choice, or possibly one of the people on the consultants list that the Armed Services Committee keeps.
The most frightening choice for me would be Steve Buyer (R-IN), who very early on endorsed nuclear weapons against Iraq.
