Ned Lamont, the Greenwich businessman challenging Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman for the Democratic nomination, reported Friday that he gave his own campaign $371,500 and raised $341,111 from others in his first weeks as a candidate.
His $712,611 total includes at least $170,000 in small contributions made over the Internet, providing a base that can be tapped repeatedly before the Aug. 8 primary. The campaign reported 4,853 contributions from 4,337 individual donors who gave an average of $78.
But Lieberman, a three-term incumbent with a broad fundraising base, raised $947,356 over the three months ending March 31. His campaign ended the quarter with $4.7 million in the bank, compared with Lamont's $375,916.
