Rummy: "listening to them is probably not worth one's time."
Stumbled on this in a CNN transcript. This is a quote from an interview Rummy did on Al-Arabiya TV, explaining away his decision to ignore realistic predictions in favor of rosy fantasies...

JOHNS: ...Back to Rumsfeld -- he was asked in the Al-Arabiya interview whether he was wrong on anticipating the number of casualties in the Iraq war.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP, AL-ARABIYA)

RUMSFELD: I made a conscious point of not predicting. I did not know. I -- I do not know now. I know I don't know. I don't pretend to know. And I think people who think they know and have a high degree of certainty about how long it lasts, or how -- what the dollar cost will be, or what the cost in human treasure will be, as I say, are almost always wrong, and, therefore, listening to them is probably not worth one's time.

2. Wow, rummy
In Navy leadership training I learned that listening was the most effective form of communication. You prove that point, you don't listen and you are not effective. Those classes were right on the money.

4. Bottom line: there is no human cost too great
in their quest for Iraqi oil.

One life was too much.

7. He certainly wasn't this indecisive
before the war. All I can remember is, "We need to...."
"It's imperative...."

After Rumsfailed is gone, the'll coin a new phrase, "Leave it to Rumsfeld", instead of "Leave it to Beaver" = you want it botched? Let him do it.
