Don't count your freedoms before their hatched.
I sense a lot of optimism here at DU. Optimism not to different to that felt just before Gore’s win in 2000 and Kerry’s win in 2004. Optimism isn’t bad but sometimes is comes with relaxation. We need to be on the offensive now more than ever.

If you think the NeoCon cabal fought hard and dirty to gain power, you ain’t seen nothing yet. They will fight even harder and DIRTIER to retain power. WWRD (What Will Rove Do)

Don’t let the low poll numbers for Bush and Cheney fool you. If necessary, the cabal will turn on them and use the low poll numbers to their own (cabal) advantage. Looks like McCain has already started.

The republican party is still supporting the cabal and they have a huge propaganda machine.

We need a strategy to not only fight back but to initiate the fight. Bravo for Harry Reid for lashing back at Bush re. immigration, but he was responding not attacking. Responses are never as powerful as the initial attack. We need to hammer home the message that all republicans that support Bush support torture, war and corporate corruption. We need a strategy for fighting smear. We have been unsuccessful in the past. The smear is coming, what are we going to do??

The Democrats need a strategy to protect the internet from control by the cabal. Believe me they are working overtime to figure out how to control the last bastion of free expression.

I apologize for the rambling, but I remember my disappointment in nov 2004. It can happen again.

Keep working.

1. I think you are 100% correct
Many of these old farts in power had no idea about "the internets" prior to 2000. I've read that Rummy, et al, don't use e-mail, and if they don't use e-mail, you know they've never spent five minutes searching around the web. So they went about their business thinking they could just issue press releases as they've always done in the past, but didn't realize that anything they said would be researched and debunked faster than Tweety could rip the talking points from the fax machine. So they're playing catch-up. They need to get a handle on this new-fangled technology. They thought a few jokes about Al Gore inventing it would suffice. But they're serious as a heart attack now.

Think about it...if DU/the web went down tomorrow, maybe via a "electromagnetic pulse" device from those evil doers, where would you get your news? You'd be back to relying 100% on CNN and MSNBC and the networks. And we all know what team they're playing for. (Hint: Not the home team!).

This is something to be VERY concerned about.

2. Good reminder
How easy it is to slack off.

IMO we have to stay on the ball with black box voting. Their last line of defense. If we can't guarantee fair elections nothing else matters. Democracy is doomed.

4. I couldn't agree more!!!! We are going to see a whole new meaning to.....
....the term "playing dirty politics" from now to the 06 elections because Congress could easily change hands. Then, leading up to 08 it's going to get even dirtier. I think we've just seen the tip of the iceberg so far. I think the idiot boy cabal will attack everything from candidates, to the media, to the Internet itself, so they can control information and thereby control the populace. It wouldn't even surprise me if we are put under official martial law sometime before the 08 elections.

5. Martial law because of terror threats, or out of control illegal aliens,
or to protect us from the bird flu or mad cow. Lots of possibilities. And we can count on Congress and the SCOTUS to support the cabal all the way.
Haliburton is building the concentration camps as we speak.

I like your quote.
