Rep. talking points are that "Rummy's arrogance is no reason to fire him!"
In fact, according to J.C.Watts, the latest apologist for Rumsfeld on CNN, it might even be a good quality for him to have...A couple of people earlier today said more or less the same thing....Just watch....That's what we'll be hearing ad nauseum for the next few days....What an immense JOKE!

1. Sooo......no longer denying that he's arrogant?
Just suggesting that arrogance is a good thing in his position?!

Unbelievable.

Isn't "arrogant" what they accused President Clinton of being? Funny, they didn't seem to think it was a very good thing back then...

5. The train has left the station on Rummy and the pubbies are still trying
to buy a ticket. They don't know it but this is a done deal. Rummy is toast. The WH knows it but hasn't told the pubbie loyalists yet so a lot of them are going to be left holding the bag when the Rummy exit strategy is implemented in the near future, as soon as the WH figures out what it is. Because this has caught them off-guard it will no doubt be something lame such as Rummy discovering some undisclosed "health problem" or that he really wants more time with the grandkids. Bush is so far down in the polls he can't afford a lead weight like Rummy.

3. As I've stated before --
This is not an issue of Rumsfailed's arrogance, or intimidation, or bad manners. It's about his leadership in the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Notice how they do that? They completely ignore the real issue, and debate things beside the point. Next we'll be hearing about Rumsfailed's toe nails, or maybe his arthritis.

Did Rumsfeld have arthritis when he talked to the generals?

The point is - what about his leadership of the Pentagon? Answer = it stinks. The man is worthless.

(it's still good that they're talking about him, though. And it's hilarious how he's defending himself)

7. You are so right
They don't refute any of the REAL criticism against him because then they would have to repeat the criticism! So they go with an irrelevant aspect which we all know already -- he is arrogant.

The real reasons they mentioned to dump Rummy:
- Iraq is an unnecessary war per Marine Lieutenant General Greg Newbold, the former Pentagon top operations officer.
- Rumsfeld is "incompetent strategically, operationally and tactically." says Major General Paul Eaton, who was in charge of training Iraqi troops in 2003 and 2004.
- Missteps were made during the war that led to the current level of the insurgency according to former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

And there are more but none of them said anything about his personality.

6. I'm not defending this asshole but
I heard on the radio this morning that one or more of the generals stated they were "intimidated" by Rumsfeld. WTF kind of generals do we have that they would be intimidated by a 75 year old man fer chrissakes. These mofos need to grow a pair. No wonder the fuckin war is going so bad.
