CA State Caucuses this weekend
All candidate caucuses are being held this weekend at the same time for each candidate and in each congressional district in CA. This is quite different than what we've done in the past.

A couple of musings:

- Delegate allocation is proportional for each Congressional District. The actual numbers will be determined after the CA primary results are in.

- In the three Congressional Districts in my area (CD 19, 20 & 21), candidate caucuses are being held for Dean, Edwards, Kucinich and Clark but none for Kerry, Sharpton or Lieberman. I find it interesting that the frontrunner has no local caucus. Further, we've tried to contact Kerry's national and state offices to obtain this information but no one seems to know anything.

- With the exception of Kucinich, the remaining candidates have spent almost no time in California (except to fundraise in L.A. & the Bay Area/South Bay), so whatever support a candidate gets here is almost exclusively grass roots. Dean and Kucinich have had significant grass-roots organizations since last spring while Clark and Kerry have mounted an excellent local effort in a relatively small amount of time.

I think CA is clearly in play and that Dean, Edwards & Clark need to stay in it at least through Super Tuesday. There are some pretty big states we've not heard from yet. I may be completely wrong here but I'm not seeing that it's over just because the media has deemed it so.
