Chris Shays drinks the kool-aid, says Iraq doing pretty well. |
|
Rep. Chris Shays, (R-CT) was on CNN this morning from Iraq, and he was talking to John Roberts about the situation in the country, and Shays said Iraq is doing "pretty well overall". He said while their is sectarian fighting in both Baghdad and Basra, about 80% of the country is pretty quiet. He quoted the Foxnews line that the good news coming out of Iraq is being underreported by the press because they have the mentality of "if it bleeds, it leads". Shays also went on the say that since the Iraqi's have had the elections, and the fact that Mr. Jaffari is willing now to step down, it shows that democracy has taken root in Iraq. He also says that Iraq is not in civil war, and while the violence is unacceptable and costly for US and Iraqi troops, the Iraqi's are making great strides at securing major parts of the country. I used to have a little respect for Shays, because he was to me at least a maverick Republican, who would sometimes go against his own party, bu he is definitely swallowed the kool-aid. In fact, he's had several glasses of the stuff. What he said this morning is just plain lunacy. :dunce: :banghead:

3. CT is NWO breeding chamber |

the high proportion of large BMWs gives it away, along with the overly manicured lawns and commuter density.
