Is Iran or Venezuela now withholding oil from the market ? |
|
And that is why Bush is so pissed? If people don't have gasoline, they get really, really pissed off at the politicians in power. And that would spell doom for the Republicans in November. Is that what might be happening behind the scenes? Nothing would squeeze America's balls more than cutting off the oil supply. Or are these oil-producing countries not smart enough to know that? Maybe we should just go in and take the oil like we tried in Iraq or threaten them with a nuclear bomb if they try such crap?

in the wind as gasoline hits $4 a gallon. The oil isn't going anywhere, and it's not getting worth less money by leaving it in the ground.

It's a win-win-Win-WIn-WIN situation. They win, Bush loses. How can they not take the bait?
Hugo Chavez has wanted the price of oil to go up. President Ahmadinejad seems to be very happy today. When oil goes up, the following happens:
1) the price of gas goes up
2) Drivers get pissed
3) they get pissed at Bush
4) Bush ratings go down.
5) Oil exporting countries make more money.
6) Victim countries work furiously for alternative energy. * * * * * Who could resist?

8. they don't need to use terrorism, or military action ... |
|
they only need to stop pumping as much oil for 6 months.
If gasoline is $5 a gallon in October, the Republican rule of congress is OVER. They have to know that Bush with Dems in charge of congress is not a Bush they have to worry about so much for his excesses.

5. CBS News cited fear of US attack on Iran and |

the drop in Nigeria's oil production due to political unrest as major factors in gas price hike. Oh, and the increased demand by China.

7. Don't tell anyone but the Iran threats are a big diversion... |

And if I were Chavez, I would be very, very concerned. This is all military propaganda to direct attention elsewhere. I'm not saying I heard that from a government official. :)

9. You know, I've been wondering about that, kentuck. |

There can be no doubt, the US desperately needs Venezuelan oil. Hugo Chavez is a constant thorn in their side. he's asserted himself.....too many times for their liking. He even evicted a big oil company (Exxon?) about 4 months ago. And just think!! Venezuela has just been named as having the world's largest supply of sour, sulfurous crude.
But I'm having problems with that. Venezuela has lots of thick, sour crude oil. It's harder to refine, causes more refining messes.
What about Iran? Isn't most of their oil light, sweet crude? That's what the world runs on today: the good, cheap stuff. That's what they've got in Iraq.
I would be very interested to know: what's the most coveted? Also, Venezuela is much closer than the Middle East, which makes it more important strategically. Plus, that big mouth is getting other Latin American countries to "turn left". Big problem.
You could be right.
