Iran under a monarch: yes.
Iran with an elected president: no.

This is absurd. The revolution of 1979 was a long time ago.
It’s time to recognize and negotiate with Iran.
The US recognized Iran before 1979 when it was ruled by a Shah, and should also recognize Iran today with an elected president.
Talking to Iran is better than bombing Iran and starting another war.
