1. It would probably be the end of her marriage.
But I think she's a strong contender for the job.

2. I don't think her marriage will suffer.
It is all a game to those two.

And WE lose.

5. You're right. It is a game. I kind of got weary of listening to
them dicker and wrangle on tv a while back.

I do think Matlin is a contender for that job.

3. Nahh she's too defensive and combative... She buys into the
Cheney narrative that the administration has no responsibility to inform the press or public. I don't see it.

14. I agree. She's also got a short fuse. She could fry the ears of a sailor
... with her command of obscenities, I'd bet. She's a really tough cookie - which is what James Carville likes.

4. I think it will be an 800 number for a press support line to India.
WH reporters will have to navigate through a deep phone menu to get their press info. That way we won't have to see the press secretary sweat anymore.

8. She's too hard to look at.
I don't mean to be crass and looks shouldn't matter, but they do. I just can't imagine that they would want Matalin to be the public face of the B*sh administration.

10. I think the job will go to a flunky .. not somebody with standing.
And Matalin has been Cheney's aide and a member of WHIG -- too much baggage for her.

13. Makes sense...
The WH press corps might be a little more unlikely to jump on a woman like they did Scotty. (unless of course....:) ) But I think the lady that married Dan Senor may be a candidate? Campbell Brown?

15. If a woman is chosen, I think they'd be smarter to go with
the one who used to be in charge of press relations for the Pentagon, (if she's still around, that is). I can't think of her name.

she's a brutal person inside and out.

Vicious...can you just imagine being married to that whiny cynic? Sheesh...tell ya one thing, you won't have to convince me to not watch press conferences if she's appointed. I can't even look at her.

28. Matlin would be a dream - let the games begin - press corp is
fed up with 3 years of stonwalling press secretaries, (plus Gannon/Guckert was a slap in the face).
The next press secretary I believe will be ending press confrences/speeches quite often and abruptly.

We put up with Ari's BS. McClellan? well, what can you say, he tried backing up Bush but Rove was even misleading him so Mary darlin, it's how she deals with "facts that most likely will be more along the line of wishful thoughts compared to the real deal...

back from her gig in Arabia to push her "love America" propaganda; she was, after all, his press person in all of his campaigns, and the press hated her! It will be so much fun if she is the one!

35. I'll bet it's a woman, but not Hughes
A close, insider that worked well with Rove and Bartlett. Not sure who that might be off hand without going through the list of states and seeing who was at high levels working for Bush in 2000 and 2004.
