I know, I know...just watch the clip.

Tony Snow Attributes High Gas Prices To “People Complaining About Donald Rumsfeld”

Fox News Anchor Tony Snow is being considered as a replacement for White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan. Looks like he would fit right in. Last night on The O’Reilly Factor, Snow said that “people complaining about Donald Rumsfeld” were partially to blame for high gas prices. Watch it:

Transcript:

O’REILLY: Prices have doubled in the USA and continue to go up. What say you sir?

SNOW: Well, this is where you get to call me a pinhead again, Bill. You’re absolutely right, supplies are high. But a couple of different things going on.

Different types of oil that are in supply. Oil refining costs have gone up a little bit. But let’s be real about this: 60 percent of the price of a gallon of gasoline right now is crude oil prices. Crude oil over $70 a gallon right now. That gets written into the price. Why is that per gallon crude oil price so high? Because people are jittery.

You’ve got a guy in Iran saying we’re going to build a nuclear weapon. You’ve got people complaining about Donald Rumsfeld and the Pentagon. There are jitters about the stability of the Middle East. Those subside and a number of people say this, analysts in the industry, the price goes down again.

5. As of last night,
If this statement was made last night, then Mr. Snow should know that a barrel of crude is over $75.00 not $70.00, and the rest of the statement is gibberish.

dared mention Keith Olbermann! Better yet...Keith could start attending the press briefings. Bill's head would explode!

15. I'm so excited about Tony getting Scotty's job!
Oh, I just can't wait. Seriously. My main worry is that something will happen to screw it up before he gets behind the podium.

If you look at it realistically, whoever gets the job is going to parrot the lies and spin the Bushies have listed as their talking points. Period. Nobody is ever going to be hired for that job who might actually answer questions honestly and shed some light on what's going on.

As long as we know we can't have a real press secretary, we may as well have someone who is fun to watch and ridicule. Scotty was just becoming a full-blown freak show when they pulled the plug on him. I hate to see him go just when he's become entertaining. But Snow has promise. He could be unintentionally hilarious from Day 1.

22. I gave a lot of thought to that...
Anyone who's read my DU posts knows that I've shown no mercy toward Scott McClellan...

But the saddest part of all of this is that I believe he's simply a guy showing loyalty...however misguided...

...and Tony Snow, on the other hand, is simply a whore. He knows EXACTLY what he's doing, and the fact that he's a cancer survivor does NOT make him a hero...it makes him a man who survived cancer and made a conscious decision to spend whatever years are left to him as a whore.

Just my two cents worth.

21. Do they ever listen to themselves?
Don't they realize how abysmally stupid they sound when they come up with things like this? They really are insulting to our intelligence, but since their audience is composed of the 32% who take their kool-aid intravenously, I guess they figure it doesn't matter how stupid they sound. All that the die-hard right wingers require is somebody furnish them with a scapegoat, so that they don't have to blame things on Bush and his incompetent cronies. Pretty much anybody will do, as long as it's not them.

23. Well, I hate to be the voice of dissent (reason) here...
but oil futures contracts go up in price partly as a result of global uncertainty, especially in petroleum-producing areas. That's simply a fact. Markets hate uncertainty.

The main reason the price is going up is increased demand, principally from China and India.

This guy may be a sycophantic suckup, but part of what he's saying is true.
