a caller brought this up on randi's show tuesday (and they pointed out the four states that still view bush favorably are wyoming--where cheney is from, idaho, utah and nebraska.)

1. Usually they explain price fluctuations as distribution costs.
But if that were the case, wouldn't remote areas pay more? So much for that reason when you look at Wyoming & Idaho.

these people suck.

2. The downside for Bush is that the rest of the economy suffers, which
means he's held accountable, and the poll number may sink more.

The up side is that more people will pay more attention to the environmental issues which we've shoved under the rug for so long.

3. The taxes should be the difference. Also local taxes.

4. Lower taxes and may not be required (EPA regs) additives
Someone from WY can speak to this now, but as of a year or two ago, I don't believe they were adding MTBE (now banned) or ethanol (antipollution additives). It would make sense that the most sparsely populated western states would similarly be exempted. Georgia wasn't required to formulate gas with these additives for a long time, but I think they probably are now, given the amount of particulate pollution in Atlanta. As a result, my gas in CO was always at least 10cents or more higher than what my sister was paying in Atlanta.

5. Our gas is cheaper
because we have fewer taxes.
