Those two polls have been high-side outliers for Bush since he ran in 2000. What will the numbers be when the REAL polls come in? 28%? 29%? Or the Nixononian all-time low of 27%? Oh, be still my heart!

1. I've always thought the hard core idiots in this country
were somewhere between 25%-30%. I may have overestimated a bit. I can see Stupid's numbers going to the lower 20s if he keeps on the way he's done for the past 5 years, especially if he starts another ruinous and unwinnable war before he's extricated us from the last two.

Morons will always be with us. What we need to do from now on is keep them away from things that can hurt them and us, like political power.

3. Mid- to high-twneties. Thirty tops.
Rasmussen had him at 36%. Those are usually the high numbers for him in a round of polling.

4. I'm guessing 28-29 now
But, it's been almost 20 years since I had a class in statistics.

If gas prices this summer are $3.50/gallon, I expect even Fox & Gallup will have him down in the high 20s.

6. It's got to be below Nixon's if these guys admit he's this low.
I used to always dock 10 points from their scores.

9. Probably 32% and 33%.
They don't change criteria otherwise the historic numbers would be meaningless.

Gallup publishes all the details of how they balance their data, etc.

In other words, they're not fudging. Bush's poll numbers move in a cluster. Believe me, pollsters don't get along well enough to coordinate that.

10. The liberal media is clearly skewing these results.
Fox News is a well-known for injecting their leftist liberal spin into everything.

11. Mid to high 20's...
The clues that they're lower:

(1) The media's sudden critical reporting

(2) Discrepancies in regard to the "Bush's lowest number yet", suggesting media fudging is going on. A CBS poll reported 34% in February 2006, yet months later when his approval rating was 2 points higher (36%), the media reported it to be "Bush's lowest number yet".

12. Gallup has Bush at 36%, not 32% approval rating.
The survey was reported on April 13.

I think the confusion is because Gallup used to be associated with CNN. Since Gallup dropped them, CNN uses Opinion Research.

CNN/ Opinion Research is the poll that has Bush at 32%.

The point of your post is on target, though: Bush is in the crapper! :)
