If you are sick of Joe Lieberman, here's your chance
Want proof that this campaign is the real deal? Last week Joe Lieberman was forced to start putting ads on the air while election is still months away - his first in 12 years.

In one of the ads Joe Lieberman looks into the camera and claims he "respects the views" of those who disagree with his position on Iraq. That's how he feels when reading a script, by his pollsters, reminding him he needs to appeal to Democrats in the Democratic Primary.

Joe Lieberman expressed his true feeling about those who disagree with him on Iraq when he said, "...we undermine the President's credibility at our nation's peril."

We need to take Ned Lamont's message to the airwaves before the convention and we need to do it quick. Our first media buy will cost $125,000 and we can only do it with you help.

Help our campaign get on the air.

Joe Lieberman is trying to make this a campaign about Iraq. But we know Iraq isn't the only issue in this primary.

Joe Lieberman believes that Terri Schiavo's life was the Senate's business, that rape victims should just take a "short car ride" to another hospital for emergency contraception, and that President Bush's energy bill is good for Connecticut.

If we don't define ourselves Joe Lieberman is sure to define us.

Help us purchase our first media buy.

1. Time to go, Joe!
And Lamont's campaign is welcome to use that slogan, free of charge. It's on me.

2. Why can't Sen. L. see that Bush has already undermined his
credibility, and he did it himself or with the help of his cronies.

6. I wish Lamont made it clearer what he will do in the Senate
He's basically just running as the anti-Lieberman, and I couldn't really find a clear statement of his issues or agenda on his website - just a list of things Lieberman supports that Lamont disagrees with.

Joementum needs to go, but Lamont needs to convince Democrats in CT why they should honor him with their nomination. Right now, he seems like a nonentity - the "not Lieberman" candidate, with no other distinction about him at all. I don't think that's enough. He needs to articulate a clear vision and make his personality shine through and give people a reason to vote FOR him. The anti-Lieberman segment seems to be all he's going for, and that won't be enough to win the primary.

7. sometimes, not often, that is enough
I am of the mindset that disposing of Joementum in the primary is a strong statement Dems MUST make to signal to the Democratic Party as a whole that they work for us and that we stand united against the policies of this immoral, corrupt, inept administration - and so should they.

11. I agree Joe should go

But I also think Ned needs to make clearer what he would do, other than not be Joe Lieberman. A lot of people who aren't dyed in the wool liberals may support Lieberman just because they think he's a nice guy, so Lamont needs to convince that part of the electorate that he has a unique personality and perspective and that he will serve their interests. Definitely, if I lived in CT, I would vote for Lamont, but I'm a very politically conscious, liberal voter - most of the electorate is nowhere near as engaged in politics as you or I. And Lamont needs to convince those people - the ones who probably like Joementum just because he's "nice" and he's the incumbent - that he deserves the job. It'll be crucial in the general election should he beat Lieberman in the primary.

8. Great interview: "Ned Lamont, Insurgent"

Excerpts:

“I’m coming at this race as a bit of an outsider, with not high name recognition, and who cares passionately about the issues, but when I talk to the mainstream media, it’s all about process and money and delegates. It was the blogs who said, ‘Hey, there are compelling issues out there, and let’s see how Lamont stands.’ Whatever the blogs’ reputation, they opened the door to more serious discourse than the mainstream media did.”

“If had done this two years ago, if he had said, ‘Look, I thought the invasion was justified, but it’s not working and the situation is getting worse and I think it’s time we started bringing our troops home,’ and he had taken a lead on that, would I have been as incented to get into this race? No.”

“We have so many different ways we can engage , and all this saber rattling and ‘Axis of Evil’ rhetoric is playing into the hands of the nationalists and the extremists in Iran. We can’t take diplomacy off the table. But Lieberman is the one who keeps talking about keeping the military option on the table.”
