The Protection of Republican Congressional Seats Amendment |
|
(otherwise known as the Defense of Rightwingers Act).
They've figured it out. The wedge issue. FMA. The Congressional leadership is moving a proposed constitutional amendment to prevent states from allowing same-sex marriage.
The underlying message: we (repukes) may be incompetent, lying warmongers, but, even if we can't protect you from terra, we'll protect you from something even scarier: gaaaaays! :scared: :hide: :scared: :hide: :scared:

1. Ah, what about the price of oil, the Iraqi war, and immigration? |
|
Most people are getting sick of side-line wedge issues when this country is so messed up.

3. They're tryin' it again. The "unnecessary" amendment has taken |
|
on a new life - as an election year wedge issue.

4. They'll keep using it as long as it works for them |

But this time, I don't think it will be enough. Rethugs are definitely shitting their pants. People are sick of these jokers, plain and simple and won't have their vote influenced by the thought of two dudes doing it. Voters have started to realize who is really holding our country back. Besides, the amendment will fail anyway, plus a lot of states already banned gay marraige in 04, so it will be tougher for conservatives to give the issue the same resonance it previously had.
