Nixion Administraton comparsions Bush Administration |
|
The question: Has the Bush Administration caused more damage to the U.S. specificly to U.S. citizen than the Nixon Administration? Granted they are different eras, different administrations, yet similar circumstances, and some causal relatons to international affiars, and new nuclear weapons threats and postition of world power China.
A dicotomy may be close to say one caused more problems to the american people than the other yet remain cautiously simliar. Reqardless of challenges I think a difference can emerge that a repbulican adminsitration would thought this couldn't happen again in a repbublican administriton and it could never be as bad as the Nixons year.
If the U.S. House becomes majority in 2006, leaders will censure as well bring impeachment proceedings for this current president and will move forward with vigor.
Input would be most gratefull and wondering how you at the DU think. Thanks.

1. As Hateful as Nixon Was . . . |
|
There is a major competence difference. Nixon was the target of much liberal hate, but he was a truly brilliant guy (that alone is a major difference). Nixon's brilliance as a political strategist and foreign policy architect came from the Dark Side -- but it was undeniable. Nixon also surrounding himself with the very foreign policy Establishment that the Neocons around Bush scorn.
Nixon was a martinet, no doubt about it. But he looks like Aristotle compared to these thugs. And they are stupid.

Nixon loved Elvis, or at least pretended to. I can't imagine Nixon dancing or listening to rock and roll. MY favorite pic of Nixon was of him dancing, at a White House dinner (yes he could actually dance, and play the piano too), while STARING down at the cleavage of some diplomat's bouffant wife. A CLASSIC photo.

They made a movie about that photo a while back. It might be a little painful for liberals to watch but it nailed how crazy conservatism is. I highly recommend it if you want a laugh.

We are stuck in a war against an innocent nation who never threatened us. The lies of the administration, or their agencies, led us into this war. W's crime is 100 times of that of Nixon and a 1000 times of Clinton.

7. Nixon did some good things |

EPA, OSHA, Clean Air Act, affirmative action, Endangered Species Act, Consumer Product Safety Commission and ended the draft
Of course, he did a whole lot more bad things.
