Republicans trying to bribe the American people once again
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/04/27/gas.rebate/index.html

--snip--

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Every American taxpayer would get a $100 rebate check to offset the pain of higher pump prices for gasoline, under an amendment Senate Republicans hope to bring to a vote Thursday.

--snip--

This should be the target of high ridicule. We need to pound it home that a mere $100 bribe is not going to save the Republican Party this November.

3. Meanwhile, oil companies continue to make giant profits.
At the taxpayers' expense. That $100 is our money in the friggin' first place.

5. How many times do you have to fill-up your car to eat that $100?
How many times will you fill up your car this year? What's the real value of this rebate?

7. Oil co's gouge us. Solution? Make our kids pay us the gouge. Huh?
Oil co's gouge me of a hundred dollars. Congress borrows a hundred dollars to give to me as compensation. End result: Oil co's richer by one hundred dollars, future americans poorer by one hundred dollars plus interest, and I'm the same.

It's the same republican strategy as any tax cut for the rich: it's the future generations who don't vote that get screwed while the companies get rich. It's just involving me this time for a rube goldberg, this looks even more generous, piece of bullshit.

Send me a hundred bucks and it's going straight to a democratic candidate, you thieves.

9. NATIONALIZE the oil companies!! That's the new "N" word in B.C.F., Inc.
The "bush crime family" inc. Outrageous or not, we need to SENSATIONALIZE these high crimes and treasons by those war profiteers, Bush/CHeney/Rice ALL came from multinational mega-oil, and owe their carrers to charging $3.00 for a $0.50 product. The U.S. is the 3rd largest oil producer! This gouging of us and theft of our national treasury, and the criminalization of our poor are revolutionary in scope. What are the consequences for the dictators in this overthrow of our democracy? Selling crack to the rich white punks get the black man 7 years in prison and loss of the voting franchise and a condemnation of poverty until death, just to give the current reference for what the establishment thinks is justice!

10. And ANWR is part of that deal!!
Can you imagine, asking us to sell out our wildlands for $100 apiece? Sadly, I bet a lot of people would take them up on it. I hope they prove me wrong.

12. That's not even two fill ups for a big SUV.
I think even most Bushbots would need a much bigger bribe than $100.

17. At the rate gas prices are skyrocketing...
$100 won't even be enough for one fillup for their SUV.

13. So, are they planning on borrowing that money from the Chinese?
Is that wise? (of course not...)

Borrowing money for anything but a capital expense is stupid. I realize that our government does that all the time...ergo, ipso facto, it's stupid.

and all I got was this lousy check.

If I get it, I'm sending mine to Gold Star Mothers. Cindy can have it. She will put it to good use.

20. LMMFAO!!!!! $100?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I drive an F-150 Extended Cab 2WD with low gearing and oversized tires (for towing equipment) with dual tanks and I get 8 miles per gallon!! Let me know when they are ready to send me $100 per week, then I'll get excited about it. I personally believe in conservation also, but if we are the 3rd largest oil producing nation, why are we so dependant on foriegn oil???? It is way past time to start worrying about and taking care of our own here at home!
