May Day, new US Holiday: Why not support those with the guts to protest
War rages in scarlet fury, as America's Finest die by the thousands, for nothing but Big Oil profits. Still the left sits silent.

The Fourth Amendment is gone and the First Amendment is under fire. Still the left sits silent.

Fuel prices drive the middle class into poverty, as the top 3% of money holders enjoy gigantic tax breaks. Still the left sits silent.

Well sit on your butts chicken-crap leftists. I won't sit silent and I'll honor the immigrant shut-down.

1. Hear hear!
No matter what your view on immigration is, you have to support the right for people to protest! And you have to give these people props for bringing back an old American tradition.

WE should be so organized and so vocal.

3. exactly
frankly, I'm conflicted on the issue of these people in our country but I'm not conflicted on helping them give it to the Republicans who let undocumented aliens in, only to exploit them. Guess again bush-aid drinkers these guys mean business.

I don't support the immigration protests because LEGAL immigrants already have rights to be here, to learn here, to raise a family here, etc. I don't see the point of the May 1st protest but what I do see is sheer stupidity and strong support for the continued exploitation of illegal immigration.

and oh yeah, while I'm bitching
Bush drives a nail like a little pecker! I bet carpenters the world over are laughing, while a carpenter's Son cries in the great beyond.

5. I think the real beef is with corporations who are breaking the law
by hiring illegals. This practice is a total scam! It raises the expectations of many illegals and causes many, many more to come here. The corporations should be forced to adhere to the current laws. But you know in this political climate where BushCo and the corporations are circle jerking, it's not going to happen.

Personally, I think it's sort of stupid for people to think they can force the hand of the government... What would England or Canada do if a bunch of us demanded any rights at all?

All that being said, I support the protest and I hope we all learn from their organization. We need to be more like them, imho, when it comes to all the issues we discuss here.

7. Thanks
It's just a standard one I picked from the basic stuff offered.

I'm just a tad Shawnee... and I recently learned there were Sioux and Cherokee in the family as well.

Our people met our people at Plymouth Rock... That's what my great-granny used to say. I thought it was just some family myth that we were Mayflower decsendants... but we had it researched through Latter Day Saints... Granny was right!

I've got cool pictures of ancestors that clearly show the American Indian lineage... I look like a pasty Irish chick myself:)

8. my other great granny came over on the boat into Canada first
She lived to be 106 and used to tell me about the Emerald Isle when I was young. She was married to another Irish immigrant when she moved into MA.

How about some kicks here to help TrueMajority, Neil Young and Russ Feingold end the Iraq war?

Yeah, my dad's family went to Canada as well "so as not to seem unfaithful to the Queen". :)

I'll check that out!

Edited to say, my great-granny died three months before her 100th... some sturdy folk those Celts!
