I posted this in another thread but thought I'd make an OP on its own merits.

We are hearing lots of stories about casual meetings of people who are, get this, complaining about the direction of our country. I'm sure most here have startled apolitical people with nformation that they were unaware of and might want to learn more. You can rattle off a website, but wouldn't it be more interesting and effective to pass along a business card?

A snappy DU logo, the http address, personalized with our alias, maybe some good links, some hard facts, or a relevant saying by Tom Jefferson or Ben Franklin. If 20,000 DUer's gave out a hundred business cards, think of the reach we'd have in viral networking...

Keep a few in the wallet for those moments when you connect with a person who really wants to get educated and engaged. Invite them in to DU for a chat. Then hook 'em. :evilgrin:

I'm too lazy to do it, but it might make a cool business for an enterprizing DUer (in conjunction with DU, of course). It might spread to other progressive sites as well. With the 2006 election coming up, it would be a great time to roll them out....

I even have some business card stock for our printer... too bad I never meet anyone I could give a card to. Sometimes bein looney in the boonies really sucks.

But I may make cards for my Wayward Daughter who lives in a good sized city. Thanks for the idea! It's a good one.

Well, you couldn't get much closer to the edge of the Earth as I am up here, I think.....still, I could find a few people who'd be interested. When we had our caucus last month, I had 10 people in the meeting who were interested in finding more info on the web.

But it'd be a great idea for the DU store....or maybe as a premium type thing when they fundraise. If I were in the business, I'd be pitching it to Skinner, et al.

...for Avery business card stock, and people could print their own. (That's how I do all my business cards.)

that have my userID and say I'm a member.

7. Back in the very early days of Buzzflash, I designed a card

with their logo and URL and passed them out....I just printed them on regular paper using a label maker program....

If meetup.com can do it, I don't know why DU couldn't.
