reading between the lines on FOX....Edwards????
we know that they know stuff that we don't know because they won't talk until after the polls closed .

BUT...if you listen between the lines, sometimes you get an idea of where things are heading by which candidates they are talking about.

i'm almost afraid to jinx this so i think i'll just ask if anyone else is picking up on anything?

1. Edwards will have a big day
Looks like he will get the big win he needed in SC. OK looks to be a barn burner. Kerry is having a HUGE win in Mo. Bad news for Clark no matter how you cut it.
Looks like John E. will emerge as the Kerry alternative.

2. If it causes Lieberman/Clark to drop out
Then Edwards DOES get a big boost. Especially if Dean decides to stay in for a few weeks. If Dean & Kerry split the base of the party (most towards Kerry), but Edwards now has no competition among centrists?

This would be FUN to watch if it weren't so important!

13. Your scenario sounds like...........
it could be a "Survivor" series. Who's getting kicked off the democratic island next?

Will Sharpton's alleged alliance with a republican dirty trickster hurt him or help him?

Is the General hiding a WMD?

Howard Dean reminds me of Richard Hatch from the first series.

22. Dean = Rupert
Good guy who did it all right, but was too trusting, too good and got kicked out for it.

3. If it's on FOX...
Then assume they're trying to influence voting before the polls close. Everything they do has a political motive behind it.

5. i just watched CNN and definitely thought there was a "trouble for
Kerry" flavor to the discussion. it ended with a section on Kerry strategy and involved the phrase 'shoulds, coulda' woulda"

9. exit polls look very good for Kerry elsewhere
I don't see how he coulda' done better today. He looks to take 5 out of 7 contests handily.

16. How could he have done better?
He was supposed to take SIX out of seven... and compete in SC.

He may also have failed to win by the margins expected - that matters since it isn't winner-take-all.

7. I agree with you
Edwards is my #2 choice and I'm happy to see him get the chance to stay in this. No matter how things ultimately shake out I think he's had a really good message and the longer people get to hear it the better.

10. Please consider Edwards as your fisrt choice
I really like Dean. He helped give the Democratic party its voice back. I also respect the respect he has for his wife and many of the things he has done in Vermont.

However, I really think Edwards is the one who can beat Bush come November. Please see my post Edwards is the Most Electable if you're interested in knowing why.

Thanks

8. even for Kerry supporters
this is good news that Edwards is doing well if he chooses him as a running mate... He wouldn't want to select a VP that hadn't won a single state.

12. Kerry won't choose another candidate as his running mate,
he will choose Elliot Spitzer. As far as I am concerned, he already has.

15. He's not going to choose Elliot Spitzer
I think Spitzer would be a great choice for Attorney General. But right now he's got his sights set on becoming governor of New York. And can you blame him?

Kerry isn't going to choose someone from the Northeast.

11. Edwards doesn't have a prayer in the GE, in my opinion.
I cannot fathom why anyone thinks a junior Senator can beat an incumbent President like Bush, who has a horde of mindless voters behind him. Especially one like Edwards, who has neither domestic policy experience nor foreign policy experience, and who voted for most of the most controversial legislation from the incumbent.

Shiny hair and a cute accent and a good stump speech only go so far. I have yet to see Edwards deviate from his stump speech into actually discussing the issues; I have yet to see him choose an issue that has meat to it; I have yet to see him take a stand on an issue and be proven right in the end on it. He just doesn't have what it will take to beat Bush!

14. John Edwards is Senior Senator
john kerry jokes about it many times. talking about how after all these years he is still junior senator while those who came in years later are already senior senator.

18. Senior SC Senator, but still a freshman Senator
which was my point. I should have said "freshman" not Junior, thanks for the clarification.

23. You should try looking at Edwards' "Real Solutions for America" plan
It is available here:

http://www.johnedwards2004.com/real-solutions.asp

Or you could have tried watching him in Town Hall meetings (IMO where he truly shines) where he is answering actual questions asked by voters.

He's really the only candidate that is providing a comprehensive message that applies to all of the issues that he is running on. The other candidates seem to be bunching the key issues together into a bundle of sticks and calliing it their 'plan'.

24. you have it backwards
i know it sounds strange but Edwards is actually the senior senator. he took his seat away from jesse helm's political machine, no small feet if you think about it. Kerry is the Jr senator in the race. i'm not sure about Joe.

17. they definitely know something
The media and the campaigns are getting exit poll updates throughout the day so they can see trends. I noticed the innuendo on CNN the night of the New Hampshire primary - it was clear in the last hour before the polls closed that Kerry had won.

20. On CNN
it seemed to me that Edwards would win SC by five, plus and that Clark wasn't going to win anything... a lot of talk about him dropping out.
