Many hesitant on May Day boycott
Some groups want to see Hispanics flex their economic muscle, but some individuals aren't sure they want to take part.

A nationwide boycott encouraging Hispanics not to go to school or work and not to shop has some Wichita residents debating whether to participate.

Called the National Day of Action, the boycott's purpose is to show the economic impact of Hispanics in the U.S. The boycott is scheduled for Monday.

People are weighing possible job losses or truancy against their opinions on immigration and solidarity in deciding whether to participate in the boycott.

A recent bill in the U.S. House that would crack down on illegal immigrants sparked massive demonstrations across the country, including in Wichita, earlier this month.

Leaders from Sunflower Community Action Hispanos Unidos Chapter are leaving the decision to boycott on Monday to individuals, said Emira Palacios, a leader of Hispanos Unidos Chapter and co-chairwoman of National People's Action, a nationwide coalition of 300 grassroots organizations.
