Freepers eating their own re: Powell's statements about troop levels
I love it when one of their golden boys goes against the grain. All of a sudden they go into attack mode. Someone even bashes Condi. You would think that as Republicans they would be disgusted with what Bush has done to their already sorry excuse for a party but that would mean they would have to admit their terrible mistake.

2. It's growing so old. Their little tired efforts to save Bush in face of
all the evidence to contray. It's kind of sad really.

"Bush is going to regret playing affirmative action with his cabinet. If he'd done the same as Clinton, he'd been better off. Powell is going against him and now Rice says there is nothing wrong with the National Anthem in Spanish."

Wow...that is just...well...so sadly typical of a Repug to even think that.

Some others are particularly ignorant of war strategy:

"We are not and never have been outmanned in Iraq. Our enemy hides among civilians and schoolchildren, and their work is done by suicide bombers, hidden explosives and leftist media. More troops would not have helped against these tactics."

"Baghdad fell within two weeks. If more troops had been sent what would it have accomplished?"

"Our enemy" is the Iraqi people. I wonder if Numbnuts figured that out yet. And if more troops had been sent in, maybe something they call post-war event control might have happened...but arguing with these Chimpy Apologistas would just be cruel...

6. They never really trusted Powell
He was too much of a "sober second thought" for them to deal with. Too much caution, diplomacy and tact.

Can't have that, you know.

EDITED for typing

They don't think he's a team player.

He's willing to tell lies for the team, but he seems to have his limits. When you play for team Bush, that's not good enough.

9. Yeah but they love to point to Powell and Condi to demonstrate
how diverse their staff is. Too bad from top to bottom the administration's staff is only a fraction of the number of minorities compared to Clinton's staff. Bushco is all smoke and mirrors.

16. There's that and it also annoys me when . . .
It annoys me when some Bush Bubbah pops up and claims that opposition to Dr. Rice's confirmation is indicative that liberals/progressives/leftists (or liberalsprogressivesleftists, it's one word to them) are racists. As if opposition to Dr. Rice has nothing to do the fact that she is a liar who took an conscious and active part in the pre-invasion disinformation campaign.

10. Every time I read a thread there, I feel a little bit dumber for the
effort expended. Basically, this is what I learned.

* All generals criticizing the plan are traitors.
* Turkey deserves payback for reneging on the agreement.
* It was Bremer's fault.
* Rummy is brilliant.
* Bush is more brilliant.

They all fancy themselves military strategists. It scares me to think that there may be people like them in the Pentagon Planning Offices...

14. It's the Jerry Springer effect. (the TV version) Initially you
watch so you can feel like a superior human being or to get a good laugh but in the end you just feel dirty. Everytime I go over there to see what they are talking about I am amazed at how stupid people can be.

With multiple investigations going on and the country heading down the wrong path they will be over there griping about the Dixie Chicks. It is the same with Fox news. They love a good kidnapping or teacher sex scandal so they can ignore all the Bush screw ups.

These fools kneel at the altar of Rush Limbaugh. Doesn't that tell us something in itself?

15. I am fascinated that these airheads ever make any points that are
anywhere near intelligent. That thread shows me just how imbecilic some people are.

So if bush says things are OK, that is fine, but if the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs says bush made a military error, he is somehow treasonous???? Let me see, History 101: German Generals, during WWII made plans for numerous operations that might well have been successes, but Hitler overrode those plans and put disasters in there places. In an historical POV, thank God Hitler was that damn stupid! But do we have to have an American president that is that damn stupid????

These armchair warriors at FR are insane. What military expertise do bush and Rumsfeld have? This is why we have a professional Army and people that are well versed in tactics and strategy...[recisely so that idiots like bush and Rumsfeld DON'T make incredibly stupid decisions...BTW, The Germans WERE greeted with flowers when the entered some sectors of POland...that lasted about a week. Once the Polish saw what was coming, they were in for the fight against them, something else that is eerily similar to what is happening in Iraq...:(

18. They'd have been the ones in the bunker with Hitler......
really, their whole self-identity is invested in propping up the boy-king. I can see the day when they'll be accusing 99% of the American people of treason. They'll never find fault with Bush....it'd be like accepting that they really are clueless in their ability to understand character in politicians. I knew this guy was bad news before he was selected in 2000...I'm amazed that, after 6 years, anyone can still support him.

19. I agree...one quick look at what bush did in TX, much less the rest of
his career, and it was plain tht this guy was a complete and utter failure at everything he has attempted. His legacy of failure startling,it is incredible that anyne would think that this guy could do anything and NOT mess it up!

bush is the poster boy for the anti-Midas atory. I am always bowled over at people that have any faith in this man to do something that benefits anyone but himself or his cronies. This man is the anti-thesis of of everything this nation has strived for over the fast 235 years.
