Is there a reason for scattering the primaries rather than just having one big election day where everyone votes?
I'm not saying the other way would be better - I'm sure each option has its pros and cons - I'm just wondering why it's done this way. Anyone know?

I think that it's depressing that the media have gone from covering the race to deciding who will be the nominee beforehand. But then again, the media have a vested interest.

Despite the compressed schedule, we are STILL early in the game. Usually the lesson one learns from history is that things aren't as extreme as you think they are, and that's the lesson here, too.

There also used to be 6 weeks between NH and the next round. The front-loaded primaries, combined with a twisted media driven bandwagon effect, makes this season much different, imho.
