NY Times coverage of WH Correspondents Dinner AVOIDS COLBERT
Edited on Mon May-01-06 11:54 AM by Julius Civitatus
Here's another example of the MSM actively ignoring the biting speech by Colbert. The official Bush brown-noser at the NYT, Elisabeth Bumiller, writes a report about the WH Correspondents Dinner and completely avoids Colbert. Not even a mention of his name.

Instead, she writes a nausea-inducing poem about how "cute" and "Funny" Preznit Chimpy was. I kid you not; check out the title:

"At Award Correspondents' Dinner, A Set of Bush Twins Steal the Show."

Here's the full article:

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/01/washington/01letter.html

CNN also avoided the subject altogether this morning.

Katie Couric and Matt Lauer also avoided Colbert, and giggled over the lame presidential sketch with his "double."

MSNBC also showed part of the lame "double" routine, without mentioning Colbert.

This is REVOLTING. Truly disgusting. I'm sure Karl Rove stayed up overnight calling every newspaper and newsroom, giving serious warning and veiled threats of removing "access" if they mention Colbert. Either that, or our media are so in the bag with Bush, they don't even need to be "warned" anymore.

10. So did I, pointed out that by not covering Colbert, they were
simply proving his point.

14. I sent an email to Jack Cafferty complaining about the media blackout
I think he's ornery enough to bring this up if he gets plenty of email to persuade him!

4. Not much different than media coverage of the 2000 and 2004 campaigns.

I wonder if the left media will finally GET that the corporate media influences what THEY perceive, too?

Colbert attack on Bush and them at the dinner DIDN'T HAPPEN because press isn't covering it.

Kerry attack on Swiftliars and Bush at the Firefighters Convention DIDN'T HAPPEN because press refused to cover it.

Maybe the left media and pundits - and that includes Colbert and Stewart - will WAKE UP and realize that it's the corp media who decides what the storyline will be, no matter WHAT has actually gone down.

Maybe they won't be as quick to join in on the GOP and corpmedia's storylines in the future.

6. It just proves how much blood he drew
If they were singing his praises, it would have meant he was wrong in his assessment of them, no?

8. The more they refuse to cover it, the more coverage it gets!
On the internet, and through viral marketing. This shit is hot! And the media not covering it is a blessing in disguise. No associated spin to wade through, no carfully edited clips to dilute the true impact!

11. And this surprises anyone?
The NY Times has been racing the Washington Post to the bottom of the Bush licking heap for over 6 years now. Each time the Post reaches a new low- the NY Times is sure to follow.

15. Hey...this reminds me of the post election coverage.....
While DU was all a buzzing about all of the Voting Frauds......the Corporate Media totally didn't report on it--AT ALL!

It is a scary thing....that those who are so uncaring about our country could have so much power.
