Not everyone who protested was an "illegal alien"--what a blast from the past!

Besides, most of them will NOT be deported.

for once -- the truth about what he has done to America.

Colbert struck a blow for reality.

Bush and the CONS live in Cloud Coo Coo Land, while the rest of America lives in reality.

Colbert let them KNOW that we KNOW that they don't KNOW and that they better get a frikkin CLUE

the 60's. Far from it. It is the biggest America screw up for letting greedy businessmen get low wage workers. It has hurt the economy and the American wage earner.

And don't tell me that Mexicans do jobs that American won't!

27. My point is, if that's your issue, why post a negative thread
and PERSIST in answering every reply to it?

Use your passion for the other issue wisely--and concentrate your efforts THERE.

My peeve with you, FG, is that you honestly believe everyone should share your POV and passion (I admire you for that) about YOUR pet issues. If we all did that, DU would be a tremendous bore, actually.

Expecting a reply to this one within minutes although I'm leaving for dinner...

36. Several reasons:

1) Because a person with progressive politics got the invite to do the dinner sheerly due to his stature and popularity -- so much so that they didn't do their homework if that's not what they expected him to do. That demonstrates the strength of the progressive demographic.

2) Because we no longer have to wonder if either BushCo or the WHPC realize just how much of a beef progressives have with them and why. We now know they have been told, very eloquently, to their faces. We suspected that they knew, but now all doubt is put to rest.

3) Because those poor few sheep who thought Colbert was just a funny RWer have been thoroughly thrust through the looking glass, which can only do them good in the long run.

4) Because that one speech generated a huge outpouring of internet support, rivaling, let's say, Cindy Sheehan in it's mindshare, and though that may make the importance of it a self-fulfilling prophecy to some it doesn't matter: the echoes of that speech will ring for years in politics, from the concepts right down to the lexicon (e.g. "backwash".)

5) Because the last time someone from Comedy Central got seriously political, the show he complained about got canceled...

Obviously, he's the doctor, not the surgeon.

There's a couple hundred million of us here, can't someone ELSE handle the solution part of things? HE took all the risks.

YOU should back him up and have a solution ready, not be in here tying up the board, pretending not to get it.

You're looking like one of those passive/aggressive trolls that distrupt a board by asking asinine questions and refusing to get the obvious while well-intentioned people waste a week trying to school you.

They used to fool me til I realized that they were even more effective than the trolls who just offend everyone. They can tie up a board with endless dumb questions.

That wouldn't be what YOU'RE doing, is it? WHY is someone finally stating the truth on global tv (finally) so hard to imagine as a great thing?

How many years have you been waiting to hear the plain truth on tv, just to save your sanity? Why DON'T you get it? Huh?

the only way we can drive home the true issues is through satire.

It works! The Right Wing is so damn inane, they have no respect for such humor and largely ignore us.
