Iran Threatens Israel if U.S. Attacks

TEHRAN, Iran - A top Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander said Tuesday that Israel would be Iran's first retaliatory target in response to any U.S. attack. "We have announced that whenever America does make any mischief, the first place we target will be Israel," the Iranian Student News Agency quoted Gen. Mohammad Ebrahim Dehghani as saying.

1. What a shame the world

is full of mad men masquerading as leaders. If I were Iran I might want to rethink that stance. Are they thinking Israel will just sit back and do nothing?

2. I would think they would launch scuds and Shahab-3s at the Green Zone

It's a lot closer than Tel Aviv, and there's a bunch of US troops and commanders living in the "Emerald City." It would be a juicy target to the Iranians if war ever broke out. I'm not saying Tel Aviv won't be hit, but it's likely both locations would be hit.

I don't understand why. The next President will be surely less inclined toward war. Also Iran could use time to develop gas refineries and to work on their nukes. There is some missing piece here

6. If we hit Iran, I predict a regional World War

Iran would lash out by firing what remains of their missiles at targets like the Green Zone in Iraq, US bases in Kuwait, etc. Then they'd fire their missiles at Tel Aviv and would probably try to shut off the Hormuz Strait and sink any ship that tries to enter there.

Then they would probably try and get Shi'ite militias in Iraq to turn against the US. They would order elements of Hezbollah in Syria and Lebanon to attack Israel. With Iraq in chaos, Turkey could be forced to send in tanks and troops to crush the Kurds if they try to break away and declare independence. Saudi Arabia's regime would be attacked by religious extremists, and Musharraf in Pakistan could be overthrown by the same and replaced with a militantly anti-US government, and this could have negative implications for India.

Such a war would guarantee another terrorist attack on US soil.

all over the world - they have been the largest financeer of terrorism and are owed a lot of favors.

But the war is coming so we had best plan how to deal with it.
