Colbert * "Believes Wednesday what he believed on Monday " before 911?
His exact words were "believes Wednesday what he believed Monday, despite what happened Tuesday.”

Remember Tuesday Sept 11, 2001!

I believe he took a big jab at Bush*t actions on 9/11 in that quote, What do you think?

5. On the other hand
don't discount the fact that Colbert and his family live in NYC and, as a local myself, I'll never forget that 9-11 was on a Tuesday.

6. Hitchcock called that "icebox logic."
You know, you're raiding the icebox for a midnight snack after coming home from the movie theater, and you start reading all kinds of things into what you just saw.

If it was intentional, it was skillfully subtle. If not, serendipity's a bitch for Dubya**.

8. with a staff like his --
-- it's extremely likely that they KNEW this when they put it the hat, not to mention that he's a genius. I've no doubt that Colbert is capable of running lines with multiple meanings. Bigger question is, you think that dumbya can catch lines with multiple meanings?

9. Right, I didn't even think of 9/11!
Edited on Wed May-03-06 10:48 AM by Chimpys_Last_Stand
I was thinking of Katrina, and the reference might have been about the comment "nobody could have anticipated the breach of the levees". But I think you're right, it's gotta be 9/11.

Good catch!

on edit:....or, what everyone else here has said!! Either way, he made his point brilliantly!

10. Colbert Is So Assuming & Subtle....
I wouldn't be surprised if it was meant exactly as you say. Although, it could also apply to the flooding with Katrina, which also happened late Monday/early Tuesday.

It's one of those "way homer" jokes....the kind you get later, "on the way home!" I'm really beginning to like this guy!

13. Garsh, Ahm stoopid...
I just took it to mean that once Bush has 'decided' something he pays no attention to reality.

14. A right-wing hag...
...on Blitzer yesterday, when asked to comment about Colbert's performance, remarked she was extremely offended by his insensitive comment "believes Wednesday what he believed Monday, despite what happened Tuesday” because she immediately thought of 9/11. I thought it was ridiculous but upon reflection it may have been deliberate. After all, Bush was for the war in Iraq on Monday 9/10...and still on Wednesday 9/12.

17. Why would she be offended- I thought that is what made Bush so great...
Edited on Wed May-03-06 12:05 PM by Dr Fate
The fact that he "means what he says and does what he says" no matter what- and the fact that he presided over what is apparently the most patriotic, glorious event in our history according to the GOP/media- 9/11.

18. Freepers complain about "PC" then get all pissy about what people say...
Isn't it THEY who say that the Constitution doesn't give you the right not to be offended by someone else's free speech, etc?

They're first in line, however, to get their panties in a bunch about what anyone says: Dixie Chicks, comparisons to Hitler, etc etc etc etc etc
