I'm the anti-war, anti-Bush, Marine veteran, business owner, college professor, middle class, father of five who erected the BE PATRIOTIC IMPEACH BUSH billboard with our US Constitution in the background along I-95 back in early February.
It's been 3 long months since I challenged our state congressmen and general assembly to initiate the impeachment resolution that would go directly to the US House floor. Today we're going to do it again now that the media has provided our progressive campaign more attention and I have been part of a rapidly growing number of anti-war and impeachment alliances inside and outside Rhode Island.

On May 4th, two hundred and thirty years ago through our Rhode Island legislators, at the risk of their very lives and personal fortunes, we were the first colony to declare independence from King George the third.
Eleven years later, on September 17, 1787, on four hand-written pages, the Constitution gives us no less than the owners' manual to the greatest form of government the world has ever known then as now. Our Constitution establishes the laws of, for and by the people. It’s common sense for the common good.
Like the articles of impeachment, the declaration of independence was an indictment against a Monarch by his English subjects. It was a long list economic, rights and military grievances. Then, as now, they’re issues of greed and power.
Our Constitution states nobody is above the law – not even the president. It say’s the public is “the decider,” not President Bush. We decide if we can endure three more years of lies, losing lives and pretend leadership. It’s a nonpartisan issue.
If we do not preserve, protect and defend Our Constitution then future presidents will be held to a different standard. Our very essence of what it means to be an American is at risk. For some that may mean challenging the President’s promise gas prices would drop $0.50 cents a gallon once we invaded Iraq, not rise a $1.50.
To others it means the promised cost of invading and reconstruction would not exceed $70 billion. Yet today, our US Senate voted on yet another appropriation of our tax dollars and Chinese loans that is far greater than this original amount.
May 1 marks the third anniversary of Bush declaring “Mission Accomplished;” yet, thousands more lives have been lost or destroyed with no exit in sight.
Voters are adults and we want to be spoken to honestly; especially when it means risking the lives of our loved ones. If it was the President’s intent to invade Iraq and possibly Iran to control and protect Saudi and Middle East oil, then say so.
Our Constitution begins with the phrase “We the People” Article II, Section 4 provides that The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Remember, President Clinton’s offense was lying to Congress about his tryst with Monica. The essence of President Bush’s crimes is summarized.
Whereas George W. Bush has:
1. Lied to our nation about Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction;
2. Lied to the nation about ties between Iraq and Al-Qaeda after 9/11;
3. Used these lies to lead our nation into war violating international law;
4. Lied about American policy with respect to the use of torture; and
5. Has directed the government to engage in illegal domestic spying.
Today, I, again, ask our general assembly to show the same fortitude and nonpartisan leadership exemplified by our state’s forefathers. It’s been three months since my first request. Since then California, Illinois and Vermont currently have similar resolutions pending vote in their state legislatures. As was done 230 years ago make our state proud. Please advance my draft resolution of Articles of Impeachment to the U.S. House floor. The consequence, at a minimum, may be a loss of public confidence and support now and at the polls.
