TWICE now Santorum justifies his actions with how expensive his race is!
Edited on Thu May-04-06 06:11 AM by LynneSin
So I'm browsing through the Pennsylvania forum and there is post about how Santorum has taking more big oil money than any other senator outside of Texas. And Santorum's justification was:

“In this race, we probably have the most expensive race in the country, and I probably get more money from just about every industry than any other senator in the country,” he said. “I don't know how much the oil and natural gas industry has given me, 10, 20, 30 thousand dollars, whatever it is.”

After reading it I remember a story I posted yesterday where Santorum made pretty much the same exact excuse as to why he still takes private jets from corporate sponsers even though he is proposing a lobbying reform that would ban such actions. In his justification Santorum said this:

"If I support such a proposal, I shouldn't be violating it," McCain told Roll Call in February.

Santorum, in an interview, said he did not have the "luxury" of a self-imposed ban.

"They are not running for reelection in one of the most expensive Senate races in the country," he said of McCain and Feingold.

++++++++++++++++++++++++

So, it a nutshell - is Santorum going to justify every slimy thing he does in his race as in "My race is so expensive I need to do this". I mean, I don't see Casey, Pennachio and the other democrats whining about it. It seems to me that Santorum knows he's heading for defeat but what scares me is this guy is going to pull every dirty trick out there while he does it

3. I"m thinking the guy ain't getting much in private donation
which is why he keeps harping on why his race is so expensive.

My Santorum dream wish:

That he spends so fricking much on his campaign that he loses that he goes broke, has to sell his home in Leesburg VA and force his family to live in that 2bed/1bath home he owns (but doens't live in) in Penn Hills PA - that's with him, his wife and their six kids

6. I'd love to see him leave Virginia.
My house is only about 10 miles from his, and the smell is annoying.
