Rumsfeld's Defense
Did anybody watch the news clips of Donald Rumsfeld being ambushed by some tough questions from an ex-CIA guy? If I get what Rumsfeld says about the run-up to the war, what he's saying is, in effect, "That stuff we were saying, well, it turned out to be bullshit. But we believed it while we were saying it, cause the CIA told us to, so we really weren't doing anything wrong, which means we're not guilty, which means we were and are right about everything."

It's incredible to me that even the hard-core 33% can't see this for the crock that it is.

1. Yes, and what does it say that the person asking the hard questions
was a former CIA analyst?

4. Yes, Great point.
When mr. McGovern introduced himself, he referred to himself as a 'former CIA analyst'. I thought I saw pure fear flash across Rumsfeld's face.

I thought, 'oh, this will be a tough one for him'. I saw Rumsfeld look down, look toward the exit, and then face his detractor.

8. But why can't the press ask such questions of this administration.
Instead Paula Zahn grills Ray McGovern, asking his such questions as, "How much ax do you have to grind?"

Why does Ray McGovern have to do what should be done by the likes of Paula Zahn?

Why isn't the press asking these questions?

Why do retired government officials have to do it?

These are the questions that we should be asking the press.

5. The lamest part...
...was when Rumsfeld cited the soldiers' protective gear as PROOF that "everyone" thought there were biological weapons. And the stupid audience laughed at his "do they just like the style?" joke as if it was brilliant sarcasm that proved his point. Do they really buy that pathetic reasoning?! Just goes to show that when someone REALLY confronts them, they have absolutely nothing to stand on but lying about their lies.
