dem Sen. Jeff Bingaman wants to drill for oil in E. Gulf of Mex. |
|
he's on the energy committee - go figure
he sounded more like an oil baron then a dem Sen.
however, he is full of hope. he said "I hope so" numerous times. sheese
when he talks about oil and gas use it's as if he has closed the door on thinking of the future. 'hybrid' flew off his tongue numerous times. ( maybe he has stock) and he danced all around global warming
I think he hopes it will go away.
he's up for re election
he was on W.J. this a.m.

1. Maybe he just wants to putthe screws to Jebbie |
|
and those retirees in the "Red" Gulf Coast Counties of Florida.
My position- no drilling in ANWR and the until they open up the Florida Gulf Coast.
Make Jebbie's voters and Harris voters pay.

2. actually drilling in E. Gulf is a done deal - they just have to keep the |
|
rigs far enough from the beaches that they can't be seen by tourists.
Jeb worked a deal
last yr?

Drill for oil wherever we can. Except in ANWR and other areas protected by federal law.

4. To me, conserve, and take back those billions in tax-cuts to Big Oil... |
|
...and invest in alternative energy sources---which was the reason why Congress passed those damned, foolish tax-cuts to begin with!
Dumb, ignorant, if not naive of Congress---to believe Big Oil was even remotely interested in research into alternative energy sources!---but since they're not doing it, and have even SAID they're not going to (duh!), take back those huge tax breaks and give it to those companies that are truly researching alternative, renewable energy, right?
Then DEMAND that Big Oil reopen the refineries they'd closed down (half of them since the 70's!) and build up more refinery capacity.
Since demand hasn't escalated over the years---just the prices at the pump!---and Big Oil themselves had confessed that the refineries they'd closed pose no environmental hazard to the neigboring communities, why again haven't they reopened them? Surely NOT to gouge the American public, right?
Course not...
