American Conservative Union Hysterical Over Immigration
Edited on Mon May-08-06 02:28 PM by Skinner
While we all know that an organization like the American Conservative Union (ACU) will move heaven and earth to defeat any productive immigration reform -- preferring, I'm sure, to have all undocumented workers shot on sight -- it's interesting to see the e-mail transmissions they send to truly rally their base.

"For the safety and security of our great nation, please join with me to demand the United States Senate DEFEAT ANY BILL DESIGNED TO GIVE AMNESTY TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS," wrote J. William Lauderback, ACU Executive Vice President, in a note to their troglodytic members last week. "Over 12 million immigrants already have broken the law and are living in this country illegally . Every single American, in every corner of the country, is at risk from our unsecured borders!"

I guess it's all a matter of perspective but, as a husband and father, I consider the Bush crime family and the rubber-stamp Republicans on Capitol hill to be a bigger threat to my household than a family from Mexico simply trying to make a living.

But my, oh, my do these guys pull out all the stops in trying whip their conservative militia into a frenzy. Take a look at the bullet points they sprinkle throughout their hateful missive:
  • Every minute we wait, an additional 2 illegal aliens cross our borders.
  • Every day we wait, an additional 3,178 illegal aliens cross our borders.
  • Every month we wait, an additional 98,518 illegal aliens cross our borders.
  • Every year we wait, an additional 1,159,970 illegal aliens cross our borders.
They urge their slack-jawed minions to call their Congressional representatives and to yell loud and long that Americans cannot "… look the other way while they turn 11 million lawbreakers into legal U.S. citizens."

"These illegal immigrants cost each of us - you, me and every other citizen of the United States - billions of dollars every year," they continue. "Your tax dollars are paying for welfare, healthcare, education, prison and other costs for illegal aliens. Do we need to wait until we experience another 9-11 for Congress to act?"

Because, as we all know, 15 of the 19 September 11 hijackers came from Cabo San Lucas and not Saudi Arabia, right? The ACU then ends with a bang, citing yet another scary number on who is allegedly crossing our borders.

"Rather than take action, Congress went on a two week vacation. During that time, 44,492 additional illegal aliens crossed our borders."

I guess I accidentally chopped off the end of the e-mail, because I missed the part where they undoubtedly concluded: "By the year 2100, we will have let 109,037,180 more illegal immigrants enter our great nation!"

1. How can these people not realize they're being played?
Hello? This has been a problem for DECADES, and it's the GOP that refuses to punish those that exploit illegal labor!

Until there's no demand, you will not stop the supply.

Did they learn nothing from their failed drug war?

2. In the future,
we'll all be dead. By 2100, I will be 132. Man, these guys really think long-term!

Of course, by 2100, the polar ice caps will have melted, and the only places not underwater will be our mountain ranges, which, apparently, will be jam-packed with immigrants, long after global warming has reduced our country to an archipelago. Oops, that's a Latin word, and therefore suspect, sorry, I meant "chain of islands."
