Bush calls terror fight World War III
It's bad enough that our president considers himself the End Timer-in-Chief. It's worse that he's now referring to his war on terror as World War III:
In an interview with the financial news network CNBC, Mr. Bush said he had yet to see the recently released film of the uprising, a dramatic portrayal of events on the United Airlines plane before it crashed in a Pennsylvania field.

But he said he agreed with the description of David Beamer, whose son Todd died in the crash, who in a Wall Street Journal commentary last month called it "our first successful counter-attack in our homeland in this new global war, World War III".

Mr. Bush said: "I believe that. I believe that it was the first counter-attack to World War III.

"It was, it was unbelievably heroic of those folks on the airplane to recognize the danger and save lives," he said.

1. My sympathies to David Beamer, but he's none too bright
To call this little excursion in Iraq "World War III" is like calling a soup spoon a shovel.

2. What's worse?
That Beamer called a soup spoon a shovel? Or that the president happily ate soup with a shovel afterward?

5. It is also grossly misrepresenting the reasons for WWII. Hitler was
actively developing WMD (V2 rockets and atomic weapons - WMD for that era) and disrupting shipping and killing civilians. Germany had also invaded and occupied several countries in europe and was actively engaged in the political infiltration of most of europe.

To say that a relatively small group of terrorist thugs and religious zealots equate to the threat that Hitler presented is a grotesque misrepresentation.

To suggest that Iraq represented a similar threat is similarly delusional and/or dishonest. Not that Iraq is/was a friendly place but the level of threat was below what Germany presented during the late 1930's and 1940's.

It is a lie. Just another one of *'delusional s lies.
