Independent Challenger to Bill Nelson (Dino-FL) |
|
Cross posted from Florida Forum
I heard through the grapevine this morning.
Peace activist, and former Democratic congressional candidate in Florida's 5th District, Brian Moore is going to pay the filing fee next week, and run for U.S. Senate, against Sen. Bill Nelson and eternal idiot Katherine Harris. He will file to run with No Party Affiliation.
That would normally be as an Independent, but here in Florida, we have an Independent Party.

1. I hope he doesn't do the Nader 2000 routine there and split the vote |
|
so Harris wins. Her numbers are so bad, and his are so good, I doubt that is a possiblity. But you never know. I am sure she is very happy about his candidacy.

9. I hope he stands up for his constituents and Democracy |

And realizes that having two corporate parties own your vote (and no one else should even run or they're helping the Republicans!) makes America a pathetic failed state.

10. Yeah, Nader stood up for his constituents too |
|
how did that turn out? Why did 85% of Nader 2000 voters bail out on him in 2004?
It is a bummer that you think democrats like Boxer, Kucinich, Clark, Kerry, Gore, Conyers etc are just part of a corporate party that is making America a pathetic failed state. Why do you even bother coming to DU?
If someone wants to run as an independent, that is their right. And if you think there is no difference between Gore and Bush or Nelson and Harris, that is your right too. But you shouldn't be surprised when people at DEMOCRATICunderground don't agree with you.

12. Gore's 51 million votes were stolen from Nader? |
|
You really are on the wrong website.
I never accused Nader of stealing anything. I accuse him of not looking at the big picture (he wasn't going to win, and he was costing Gore votes) and thinking that Gore and Bush weren't any different (which is an absolute lie).

if this were true, Goss wouldn't have slunk out of the administration on a Friday, with bush giving him a lukewarm goodbye and republicans letting the press speculate on whether or not Negroponte fired him.

congress in Sarasota and she thinks that Porter Goss will run against Nelson. Thinks he will get support here because of his disagreements with Negreponte.

Running as an indie in the general election is indeed splitting the vote.

13. because THIS is what the repugs want... |
|
...they'll have a last minute replacement for Harris; Goss, Jeb, someone else, it doesn't matter; but Nelson will make it hard for them to take this seat, so they're looking for every edge they can get. An attack from the left that takes even 2 to 3 % of the vote away from Nelson can put them close enough to steal the election. It's the same thing Rove is doing here in Washington state with those idiots Wilson and Dixon.
