Eliz. Dole publicizes reason for fearing Democratic takeover of Congress |
|
From MedialChannels newsletter:
Josh Marshall in Talking Points Memo:
We're still checking with the judges. But it seems that Elizabeth Dole, head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee has won the Simon Marshall Award for Unintentional Candor in Presentation of the Republican Message.
It all started earlier this evening when TPM Reader HH was on the receiving end of one of Dole's blast emails begging contributions for the Republican senate committee.
Says Dole, in her pitch: "If Democrats take control of the Senate in '06, they will cancel the Bush tax cuts,] allow liberal activist judges to run our courts and undermine all Republican efforts to win the War on Terror. Even worse ..." Now, here you know it's got to be bad. Even I got a little worried and considered sending in some money since losing the War on Terror for America would already be a pretty bad thing for the Democrats to do. But ... well, let's rejoin Dole in mid-moonbat. "Even worse, they will call for endless congressional investigations and possibly call for the impeachment of President Bush!"
And there you have it. Democrats won't stop at surrendering to the terrorists. They'll go as far as investigating President Bush!
That is the election, at least from the vantage point of the White House and the party they control. The president can't afford to lose either house of Congress. Because they've just got too many bad acts and secrets to conceal.
It's even more important than the War on Terror. *****

1. This seems to be a standard GOP tactic for the |
|
upcoming elections. I've heard it elsewhere (Cheney?). Get ready to hear it over and over and over again.
It's all they have--fear, fear, fear.
And they're right. If Dems gain Congressional seats, it's likely that impeachment will happen.

TElls us where the right's priority is - it isn't America, it's their own power.

3. I ain't a political consultant or nuthin' . . . |
|
But I've got to think "don't let them impeach him" is a pretty weak platform to stand on.
I can see it galvanizing the (ever-shrinking) base, but just about everybody else is going to be shaking their heads and asking, "are these people crazy?"
And the "not only undo the war on terra' but investigate George" sequence is downright demented.
Keep hammering, folks. The 'Licans can be broken.

9. Is the country still living in fear? |
|
Or are they just plain ANGRY, over Iraq, threat of Iran, high gas prices/utilities/high cost of home ownership, tax cuts for the RICH, no medical insurance, on and on? Does the average American really care of whether zygotes, embryos, or fetuses are being aborted? Whether Gays can marry? I doubt it. It is all about whether my son or daughter will be killed in a foreign war, or MY WALLET will suffer.
I think ANGER will trump fear.

Who knows what crimes might be uncovered? We can't let that happen can we!
New GOP campaign slogan:
"Vote for us, so we won't be indicted."
Scares them more than terrorists because they have a much higher chance of being indicted than being hit by terrorists.

the administration has committed dozens of illegal acts--lying, spying, torturing, illegal money-laundering, etc--and the Repugs think people will be horrified if they are called to account? Their logic is s-o-o-o twisted! It's like when the Iraqi prison torture was made public, and they got all red in the face because making it public "helped the enemy and made it harder for the US to win the hearts and minds of Arab people." No, dummy, the torture made it harder to win hearts and minds. I am beginning to think that RightWingNut is a mental condition which so clouds the mind that the poor victim can't think straight.

18. I keep trying to imagine what it takes to create minds that think like |
|
this. What kind of inner insecurities and fear and hatred of "others" drives people to fall for this kind of fear-mongering?
