Kerry: "I won't take lessons in patriotism from Delay or Cheney."
Kerry Heads Into Voting Strong in Polls, Confident
Reuters

By Lori Santos

<snip>

Kerry said his criticism of Bush's foreign policy and the administration's dismal record on jobs and the mounting U.S. federal deficit was selling with voters.

And he lashed back at Republicans who have been attacking his record.

"I'm not going to take any lessons in patriotism from the likes of Tom Delay and Dick Cheney (news - web sites)," he told the rally attended by many veterans, referring to one of the Republican leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives and the vice president.

"If all they're (Republicans) going to do is throw labels around and play the old game of, you know, broad brush politics, I think they've got a problem," Kerry told reporters.

2. Where have I heard that line before?
Oh yeah, Clark said it a long time ago. He needs to come up with his own quips. This isn't the first time either.

4. He said the same after Daschle was attacked as unpatriotic and after
the "regime change" remark last April.

There were some threads on it here at the time.

5. Kerry Was Saying This Last April
But I guess the opportunity to smear Kerry was too great.

6. Just like the deserter comment
Moore fired the shot, Clark took the bullet, Kerry gets the medal.

You'll have to pardon us supporters for spoiling your love-fest thread. We're all tired of Kerry letting others do his leg work, then reaping the benefits.

Someone asked me today why I didn't like Kerry. She said, "Isn't he basically saying the same things Clark does?"

I said, "Yeah... as a matter of fact, he's saying the EXACT things Clark said, but Clark said them first."

I'm not sure who John Kerry really is - but he sure as hell ain't no Wes Clark.

13. thank you
while Clark was still wondering what he was, Kerry was making those statements. I wonder if people just started following pollitics only when their chosen one decided to run. geez.

15. Seems pretty obvious
There's still people who think the war vote came AFTER the inspectors were in the country.

11. Uh, I don't have anything against Clark
But Kerry's been saying that long before Clark was a registered Democrat.

7. Those attacks aren't working, are they?

Let me give you a hint: saying that any of our candidates 'took lessons from Bush' isn't really going to win you any converts among undecided voters. It might give a self-satisfied feeling to people who hate that candidate, however.

:hi:

12. I agree
Every one of our candidates would be better than Bush, and no one here takes any kind of lessons from that mad man. It's a pretty silly argument.

19. Hating Kerry is like hating a shadow, there's nothing to hate because
there is no substance. However, that shadow can be extremely annoying when it blocks the light.

14. More proof of Kerry's rhetorical tin ear
Kerry needs to understand that most Americans haven't been in the Senate for the past two decades. They don't know who the hell Tom Delay is.

Why couldn't he have simply said "I won't take any lessons in patriotism from a Republican leadership that avoided service in Vietnam."

16. Your consistent voice of opposition to Kerry is appreciated.
I think you are quite wrong about who has a tin ear, however.

17. A lot of people remember Tom Delay from impeachment days and
kept up w his "Dems are unpatriotic" attacks.
