Impeachment is politically nessesary |
|
Government has a POLITICAL aspect as well as a policy/governing aspect. And usually you have to win at the political aspect before you are in a position to affect the policy governing aspect. This is not simply about petty revenge for the Clinton Impeachment. HAve you been paying attention for the last 10 years? It is clear that the public responds to this kind of stuff. That is why we have a republican house/senate/presidency/court system/media. Remember the goal really was not to Indite Clinton for any crimes, the goal of impeachment was to politically cripple Clinton/the Democrats so that the Republicans would have the moral failing of the Democrats to point to. Now the incompetence and courruption of Bush and the Republicans has presented us with the same oppurtunity. Therefore, the goal is not really any legal inditement, our goal should be the political destabalization of the Bush and the Republican party, and the quickest way to do that is through the Impeachment process.

2. Proceed without subpoena power? |
|
I don't think you're gonna gain a single inch.
But if there is enough movement in the American people, we should be able to get subpoena power in November.
Then we can present clearer facts to the public.

4. It's also a patriotic duty. |

A Constitutional requirement. The President and Vice-President are high criminals.

6. So, injustice for all, eh? |
|
1. If you propose impeachment/removal solely, or even primarily, for electionerring purposes, you're no different from Newt Gingrich and Henry Hyde.
2. Policy is political. The distinction between the two is fictitious.
3. Clinton's impeachment actually lost seats for the GOP in 98. To suggest that it was some great boon for Republicans is fantasy. W ran, partly, on Clinton's moral failings, not the fact that he was impeached. Had he brought it up as evidence of Democratic incompetence to govern, 2000 would not have been close in the least.
